Nestled conveniently off I40, The Cactus Cove Inn and Suites garners appreciation for its inviting and lively atmosphere, with stylish furniture and live music adding to its charm, despite some guests finding the decor lacking. The spacious rooms offer comfort, yet there are remarks about them being outdated. Visitors consistently commend the hotel's cleanliness and the welcoming service provided by the staff. While the hotel's amenities, such as the indoor atrium, are a hit with families, opinions on value are split, and the proximity to the highway may result in some noise.

A great experience from booking, check-in, the stay and check-out. This facility has been brought back to life with a massive remodel and update. Featuring large, nice clean rooms with inside doors, a huge atrium and cooked to order breakfast at a great rate make it a great stay. A great location on I40 next door to the Quarter Horse Museum makes for easy in and out. The friendly staff are eager to help and clearly appreciate their customers. The Cactus Cove is a keeper!

My semi truck broke down and the Kenworth dealer suggested this hotel. Check in was easy breezy. The room was cool when I walked in (107 degrees outside and had spent all day in a truck without a/c). The shower head is amazing and I was able to get my body temperature back to normal and started feeling much better. The bed and pillows were the perfect mix of firm and soft…very comfortable and the sheets were soft, not scratchy. The room was spacious and I appreciate actual flooring instead of carpet…and my socks didn’t get dirty so the floor is clean!!
I didn’t get to experience anything other than the room…but I noticed an awesome fountain on my walk to the room. I’d like to return just to enjoy and experience everything there.
Thank you for a wonderful stay!

Cactus Cove was an incredibly pleasant surprise! I had originally called to book at the Big Texan motel when the receptionist let me know the rate would be slightly cheaper here, and it would include breakfast. I’m a sucker for free breakfast, so I readily excepted. Given the price point, I expected some thing, barely a step up from a motel six. But, I was sorely mistaken. Cactus Cove was beautifully decorated, clean, the staff are friendly, breakfast was delicious, and I’m thrilled that they accepted pets as this was a great stop for me and my two pups are cross country road trip. I will definitely be coming back and I’m excited to see what the place looks like when they finish all of the renovations.

I was impressed from the pictures online and the value so we booked on a family trip to have a place to simply crash for the night. Well the pictures are deceiving. The doors are made of glass (not very secure should anything happen) and had pin locks on the doors like you find on the front door of a house. The curtains on the windows let anyone look into your room. More than 10 minutes after checking in, the code we were provided still didn't work and the staff seemed confused that we would expect it to work already. There is no signage to help you locate your room and no apparent logic to the numbering. When asked how to find out room they gestured in the direction of all the rooms.
The room reeked like an old ashtray even though it was a non-smoking. The sofa cushions had been replaced with some plastic covered ones which had no support. I guess I misunderstood when I booked our suite because it only had a king bed and we had 4 people on the reservation. Looked into the pullout for the kids, no sheets, no pillows or blankets in the room. They do have a dog friendly policy and I certainly heard dogs barking (remember, glass doors) but the sidewalks outside had dog feces in several places as well as litter. The parking lot was sketchy as you drove up. All the paint was scuffed and we were even missing a cabinet door in the kitchenette so the pans were just on the floor exposed. Other room doors had been visible forced open.... the ceiling tiles over the pool were falling.....

Avoid this place if you have any choice.

A couple of weeks before our trip I got an email saying my reservation had been cancelled. When I replied they fixed that. There is only a tiny sign for the location. No way to see that sign and watch traffic on I20 access road. Our room faced I20 and we heard every truck. On the other side was the atrium where people partied until 2am. The elevator was often out of service and we were on the third floor. The in house restaurant said a reservation was required for dinner and they were booked up for the day. "Complementary breakfast" was coffee and raisin bran. Anything more you had to pay for. Our room showed its age.

Although our room was one of the recently renovated ones, it faced directly onto the highway, which made sleep impossible. (It also had glass front doors, covered with black material, most peculiar and I couldnt quite determine it this was a concerted shopping centre). After a long day driving and an even longer one ahead, it was not great. When I asked her if this was going to be an issue she assured me it wouldn't, no one had complained before.... They were also very reluctant to give up any information about the complementary shuttle to the Big Texan Steak restaurant, the operations manager finally took us and collected us. I think with the myriad of accommodation options in the area, you are sure to find something a bit better.

This was truly one of the worst hotels I have ever stayed in. The pictures make it look new and modern but what they don’t disclose is that only some of the rooms were renovated and you are not given the choice when booking. Upon first glance the lobby and common areas are nice. There is corn hole and other games as well as cute lights and furniture. All of the rooms face this inside atrium.

Walking into the room I was shocked to see how run down it was. All of the furniture was dusty and scratched. The chairs and carpet were stained. There were obvious paint patches on the walls. The bathroom was gross and not clean. We did not even shower because it didn’t look clean at all. The hairdryer was hanging off the wall.

One of my biggest issues were the doors to the room. They are not typical hotel room doors and rather two flimsy doors with windows on them facing the atrium. There were blinds on the windows but they were cheap and let in a huge deal of light all night long. I felt that anyone could come into our room fairly easily based on how flimsy the doors were. They also aren’t soundproof at all so you can hear music and people talking and laughing all night long.

Had we not arrived at 11pm after driving 10+ hours, we would have gone elsewhere. Upon leaving in the morning I noticed that the ceiling tiles in the atrium were water stained.

I would not recommend staying here until they have fully renovated their rooms.

We stayed here overnight on a cross country trip. Check in was very easy. They sent a text with our room number and key code. However there were no numbers outside the building to tell us where to go to find our room, so we did still have to go to the front desk. The ladies at the desk were very nice and helpful. They seem to be updating the hotel, so it still looks a bit run down, but you can tell it’s on its way. The room was very spacious and comfortable. There was a personal, handwritten welcome note which was a lovely touch. The inside is really neat looking with many plants and indoor lighting. There is an indoor pool and atrium area with lots of games. The downside is they close all that down at 10pm sharp with no exceptions. Which was unfortunate for us after being on the road all night and wanting to relax for a bit. The other downside is that there was no way to watch tv in the room without logging into our own personal Hulu/Netflix/Amazon accounts (not sure if every room is like that as we did not ask so maybe just ours! Kind of a bummer, I was really hoping to enjoy some of the amenities. Get there early I suppose! Our 16 year old says the waffles were top notch for breakfast though. They had someone cooking bacon and eggs and many other things as well! All in all, this place has a lot of potential and it seems to be on its way!

This is an older hotel that is being remodeled. The lobby is very nice and the staff is very friendly. The rooms are clean, not fancy. It served our purpose. The complimentary breakfast was good with hot food cooked fresh. The rooms are very sparse in the way of furniture, but given time I think this will be a fine place. No walk in showers.

Great Hotel!! Looks to have been an old motel that has gotten a wonderful update. Rooms are spacious and comfortable and the entertainment in the central part of the hotel (mini golf, giant cornhole, pool) were the perfect way to spend an hour after dinner. Breakfast was good, hot and fast and all the staff were very friendly and helpful. This stay was a great bang for our buck as a family!
