Don’t stay here! Between two huge truck stops - with 18 wheeler sleepovers running their rigs, bright lights, low flying airplanes flying over and smells like I don’t know what - dog food!!! We didn’t rest so at 4:30 am, hitched our RV up and left by 6 am.
Great place to stay for a day, week or month I highly recommend it the staff is great all pull through spaces make it super easy to get in and out of very clean restrooms and shower they have a laundry facility on site and a playground for the kids!
Built in the 70s (per staff) it is well established with trees. Wonderful little dog areas in front of some of the sites, just for that site. Even shaded. Our dogs loved it & made our 5AM poop trip easy. Showers were clean, water hot, & plenty of it. This is an older park, older building, older playgrounds, so no fancy pool, & don’t judge the place just enjoy the friendly staff & great prices. They give veterans discount 🇺🇸 A big clean laundry room (didn’t use) It is close to interstate, so easy pull in then get back on road. Gas station across the street also with a subway. Sites are well taken care of & clean. We didn’t really notice the interstate noise, but one of the local military jets few over rocked our world. No cable, but we knew that from the start. WiFi worked, but don’t plan to stream The long term renters were keeping their areas up very well. This was a perfect “Overnight Park” for us…
I don't write many reviews, but this is a place that I really like for a few reasons. First, the lady at the front desk (and I presume the owner and/or manager) made such a good impression on the 2m or 3 times I have stayed in the last year or two. She is a very nice (with emphasis) person. The first time through, she offered me a Military / First Responder discount because of my work as a volunteer fireman and later a storm spotter. It was so nice that she recognizes those that give to the community and country. Second, while the park is "old-ish", it is as clean and as well kept as possible being out in the Texas flatlands. My grandson really liked the playground since it had a "real" slide (like I grew up with) that was 12-15 feet tall, with a polished aluminum slide, so you could go real fast from a nice height --> none of that wimpy 6 foot tall plastic, can't skin your knees, pseudo-slide. The jungle gym was a good old fashioned type where a kid can be a kid, and not a baby. Third. I did something really stupid, even though I have been RV-ing for over a decade, and most would have made fun of me for it. The lady was gracious and very nice about it, and would not take any money for it, and told me that is why they have a maintenance man. I really appreciated her kindness and generosity, and really appreciated the fact that she did not make fun of me for the stupid thing that I did. I'll let you guess what happened. So in conclusion, when I am traveling through Amarillo and I need a place to stop for the night, if she'll have me after what I did to her electric outlet, I will always top at Overnite RV.…
I gave a 3 rating due to the trash that is laying on the ground that borders the Valero Truck Stop. I understand the trash has probably blown over from there, but when your MH is facing it, it is an eye sore. It may not be your trash on your property, but needs cleaned up or build a fence so it isn’t seen and would block the view of the truck stop. There are train tracks on the other side of the park, but we didn’t hear them if they did run. The park is directly under a flight path which is very loud and made us laugh every time a plane was landing. The girls at the front desk were very nice and there is a cat that likes to greet you upon checking in. I would stay again in a pinch as we were yesterday, but will ask to not be facing the truck stop, besides the trash it is noisy.
We have stopped overnight here several times. Once being stranded in a snow storm years ago. Good interior roads, adequate size sites and good hookups. We just overnight and don't use additional facilities. Would recommend.
Nobody mentioned the flight path we are under neath. OMG! Trees need trimming. Wintertime stay just overnight. Nothing special. But the aircraft is LOUD! Hard to believe it’s up to good Sam rating. Good luck.
On the East side, close to The Big Texan Restaurant. The restaurant will send a “limo” to take you to the restaurant and bring you back, right to your campsite. Sites have grass, trees, picnic tables. Slight Hwy noise from the I-40, train tracks not far away. I didn’t hear the train, but hubby did. All spaces are pull-thrus. There is a pool, playground, dog run. Showers were clean, water pressure amazing, even at campsite. Office staff is friendly, especially Fluffy. A big gray & white cat who lays on the counter so she can help with the paperwork and insists that you pet her. Love cats, so I was way OK with that added bonus! Office has some RV supplies, and souvenirs. Flying J/Pilot gas station right across the highway, easy to get to. Road construction going on right now, so you have to use backroads to get there as closest off-ramp is closed. Would highly recommend. Only $39/night with Good Sam’s Discount!…
We stayed at Overnite RV Park while traveling from AZ to MN. We had reservations so check in went smooth. During our trip to our assigned spot we had to traverse a large mud pot hole in the middle of the road. The spot was easy to access being a pull through full hook up spot. We did not use any facilities so I cannot report on the condition or cleanliness. Park is conveniently located across the road from the Flying J/Pilot. Departure was unobstructed the following morning.
Ez off - Ez on the freeway The entrance was hard to see due to overgrown shrubs and weeds. The sites are fairly level and gravel. We stayed at one of the "pet" sites. The fenced area was great for the dogs (2 dachshunds). The sites are easy to access and depart. Our site had grass burrs which were taken inside the trailer. There is an Air Force base close by and you will see and here jets frequently. Overall, a great place for an overnight stay.
