As much as I would like to give this place a better rating I just can't! The owner/manager was really trying but for everything that I saw that was right I saw two things that were wrong. The place wasn't scary or anything like that but it was pretty run down. There was clutter all over the common grounds and also a few non-running cars. This stuff doesn't cost anything (or very little) to clean up and overall improve the appearance. If you do stay here I recommend getting the larger room with three beds as that is a much larger room. I stayed in the smaller room the first of two nights. I'd have to see some *serious* improvement before I were to stay here again.

This hotel is a comfortable bargain. We booked one night and ended up extending our stay for an additional night. Yes there are workers staying there but who cares. When I exited my room everyone was like "good morning!" Friendly vibe and really nice proprietors. Our king room on the ground floor was clean and simple. I especially like that there was no carpet. Great bathroom and shower. The heater worked great and it was just what we needed. It was an easy drive to Marfa or a good stop if on your way to Big Bend.

Stayed here for a night on our way into Big Bend for the weekend. The room was clean, comfortable, and recently renovated. We got in pretty late from a long day on the road and were greeted by a very nice man at the front desk who made sure we were comfortable. I did not get a "scary" vibe from this place at all and felt completely safe during our stay. It's a comfy bargain motel and if you don't mind a little mismatched kitsch decor it's a great option for the price. I'll definitely be back if I need to stop in Alpine.

A friend and I stayed in this motel for one night. We arrived very late at night and were met by who I think was probably the owner. He was very friendly and even upgraded our room from a queen to king at no extra charge. The room was clean and the bed was very comfy. I’m a little confused by all the “scary” reviews... at around $50 bucks a night, I felt like the room was a good value for the money and I would absolutely stay here again.

The price is probably the cheapest in town (still around 50 dollars) but I didn't feel safe at all (construction guys hanging out outside staring). I asked to see a room and it smell bad. The people at the front desk seemed nice though. I ended up staying at the Highland Inn - best decision I ever made.
