Unfortunately, I found hotel a bit dark, in need of a freshening up. Historic but needing some atmosphere and light. The staff were very nice ((except check in), room was generous but extremely noisy, food decent. Best part was pool which no one was even using. And very good precautions for Covid btw.
This small town hotel is incredibly unique. It is a combination of old world luxury, charming funkiness, and a feels- like-home appeal. The staff is gracious and obviously making a great effort to work around COVID. The food was inspired and delicious. The manager extended herself to be sure all our comforts were met. I would definitely stay here again.
My wife and I have stayed at The Willcox Inn several times and loved each visit. Although I have previously given it an excellent rating review, our recent visit during Covid-19 causes me to write another review. This place does everything right. The setting is perfect and the ambiance is amazing. Public areas are wonderful; dining is excellent; service is friendly and professional; accommodations perfect. It was as perfect as ever, but this time with added safety precautions everywhere, making us feel very safe. We never saw a staff member without a face mask properly positioned, and it was very hot out. We stayed in the Whitney Suite which was spacious and very nicely appointed, located on the third floor. It appeared and felt clean and was extremely comfortable. There was even a note in the closet telling you when the closet was sanitized that day. Having cocktails in the lounge area is always a highlight, as all parts of the lounge are beautiful. We then moved into the dining room, where tables were spaced in such a way to maximize social distancing. Dinner was outstanding, as always. We started with Caesar salads, then my wife ordered the filet and I had the special hangar steak with onion rings. This was accompanied by a delightful bottle of Chateauneuf du Pape. We finished with ice cream deserts. We were amazed by the way The Willcox has maintained its usual standard of excellence while, at the same time, making a guest feel extremely safe and comfortable during a pandemic. We cannot wait to return.…
Lovely Historic Property I had read about Aiken as a nice place to visit in a few publications. In planning a quick trip, I discovered info about the Willcox and after reading about the history and beauty of the facility along with the precautions they were taking with COVID-19 -- and the saltwater pool didn't hurt -- I decided to book the place. It was a lovely experience. The room was beautiful and well appointed. The service was top notch and everyone was so helpful. The location was ideal -- within easy walking distance to historic downtown. I am so glad we stayed.
I recently stayed at The Willcox, which is only about an hour from my home, in an effort to tiptoe back out into the real world, post quarantine. I stayed twice, over the course of two weeks. It was a great escape, both times. There were little things here and there that were not quite up to expectations, but I think, as the hospitality industry is feeling out how to safely reopen, The Willcox gets a pass. I'll definitely be trying them again, once normalcy resumes, and I'll update my review. I'm looking forward to my return.
