My sister stayed here her first visit and so we all decided to give it a try on our family visit this year. Abbeville is a cute one-street town and is absolutely crowned by The Belmont Inn across the square from the Opera House. The Inn has quite some history you could read about and is nicely refurbished. It reminds me of a big bed & breakfast. The room we had for 4 of us was spacious with two Queen size beds and a folding cot for an extra charge. There weren't refrigerators in the rooms but we managed. Breakfast was abundant with waffles, bagels, cereals, instant grits and oatmeal for the making, plus yogurt, fruit and spreads. They also had microwaveable sausage biscuits which tasted better than they sound. I would have liked some eggs but didn't see it offered either day. The staff is very friendly and helpful. We got a second multi-gallon vat of coffee after we had finished the first one. We had some unloading to do after clearing out my dad's former house in Anderson and a man asked if we needed help. He identified himself as the handyman. We declined but it was a nice offer. There is a bar downstairs open most nights and they had a nice looking taco bar for Taco Tuesday. Parking is abundant and the town of Abbeville is right there with everything walking distance. There are also spacious sitting rooms and even a pet spa(!) I didn't see any other hotels in Abbeville. But you don't need to look any further than The Belmont Inn.

This is my favorite kind of hotel. Ancient with real keys and rumors of hauntings, built originally in 1903 as the Eureka, and playing host to all sorts of guests before the interstate took away her clientele. If you like modern comforts like a coffee maker and in-room fridge this may not be for you. If you prefer loving touches like locally made soaps and lotions, a breakfast area hangout with a multitude of teas, coffee and cocoa available 24 hours, a Southern sitting room and veranda, and creaky wood floors, this might be your kind of place. Exceptionally clean, a well stocked continental breakfast and the quietest night I've ever slept through (no road noise - I woke up middle of the night because of the incredible silence) only some early risers, myself included. I loved my stay and can't wait to come back and spend more time in this tiny, historically significant town.

We had a wonderful 1 nite stay, we will for sure be back to experience more of what we experienced. Thank you so much miss patty & the other gal who was at the desk for your wonderful southern hospitality you both made us feel very welcomed. A great part of history, as well as the opera house next door, that too is a must!! We had room 26, next time we will stay & try room 12, & or room 5. We left Florida in route to Charlotte airport then over to Gatlinburg Tn for the week at the cabin.

Thank you to all the staff at the Belmont Inn in Abbeville for making our large family gathering such a huge success. The rooms were perfect for everyone and so charming. The 3-room connecting suite with the 2nd floor balcony was especially fun. The small bar in the hotel was also a great gathering spot.

My wife and I were in Abbeville for a funeral and only stayed one night at the Belmont, at my friends recommendation. But it was a pleasant night as the night manager opened the wine bar so we could relax with our friend and enjoy a couple bottles of wine. The Belmont is a historic old hotel on the square downtown that has been updated and refurbished with wifi, flat screens, elevator and beautiful old heart pine floors and a grand stairway. The bed was comfortable and the room was quiet with no road noises. The only ding I would have would be there was no protein for breakfast. Plenty of coffee, bagels, toaster waffles, instant grits and oatmeal and fruit and juices but no meat! I would stay here again and would recommend it to anyone staying in Abbeville. I booked it on Expedia, which was cheaper than the Belmont's website.
