My husband and I had a lovely 2 night stay on route to Cincinnati for a wedding. On our free day we visited the 2 Frank Lloyd Wright houses that was a memorable activity also. First, the food: the owners offer a price fixe dinner that we chose to celebrate our 35th anniversary. They lost it as 3 courses but it’s more than that and it was delectable! The breakfast changed daily and you were given 2 unusual options- we couldn’t decide so we always ordered both. The coffee was fresh ground and available quite early with muffins. Bedroom: we picked the Patriot Suite which had 4 large windows that looked out over the beautiful backyard. The bed was extremely comfortable and the owner mentioned they were “fussy about beds and just bought an expensive topper for it”. The common areas: this is where this particular B&B stands out. There are many common areas. We ate dinner one night in a private garden area (open to everyone but we were the only ones eating dinner). Then breakfast one morning on the rear deck and one breakfast in the covered screen porch so we could listen to the rain. This place is a gem and a much better experience than a hotel in my opinion because it was memorable. Great hosts too - always making sure we were happy and we always were!!…
We drove across the state to Hartzell House for a friends weekend, arriving just before dinner time. We emailed ahead, and our hosts set up a patio table with full China service and wine glasses, which turned our picnic into a long, lingering evening. Breakfast was a fresh fruit medley and our choice of sweet or savory dishes made to order. My quinoa, smoked salmon and poached eggs with a small salad was perfect— as was every dish. Our hosts easily accommodated my need for dairy free dishes. We stayed for three nights, enjoying warm cookies, always available fresh fruit, and fantastic breakfasts. The house is located about twenty minutes from the major regional attractions. We visited Fallingwater one morning, followed by a great lunch and bike ride out of Confluence. The following day we lazily floated down the Middle Yough. Hartzell a house is a great BandB, with comfortable rooms and hosts who clearly love making their guests happy without intruding on their experience.…
What's not to love about the Hartzell House? Beautiful Victorian home with an addition with a lovely center space (patios outside and in) separating both the East and West wings of the Inn. The food was INCREDIBLE! We had ordered a cheese and fruit tray for our first night - and got so much more! Nuts, olives and three different kinds of crackers! We couldn't eat it all so saved the nuts and crackers for later. Melissa even gave us a beer! The breakfasts we unbelievable - nourishing, delicious and beautifully presented. We stayed in the Teachers' Room which was nicely decorated and had a large bathroom across the hall. Robert and Melissa were always around to interact with - such a lovely couple. We've been to countless B & B's and Hartzell House is one of the best! Bonnie and Ron from OH. …
We have been to Hartzell House many times and have stayed in 4 of the 6 rooms on our many visits. We were anxious and excited to meet the new owners for the first time and thoroughly enjoyed chatting with Robert and Melissa during our visit. Our room was perfect and the breakfasts amazingly delicious. They were able to accommodate us with a "to-go" breakfast on Saturday because we needed to be in Pittsburgh bright and early for our daughter's graduation from Pitt and that was soooooo appreciated. Robert started a fire in the firepit so we could enjoy some stargazing and we were able to take in another Frank Lloyd Wright site at Polymath Park. I would not hesitate to return and I'm sure we will be back.
I chose Hartzell House B&B based in previous reviews and I am so glad I did. We stayed while on a stop to visit Falling Water. We stayed in the Patriot suite; it is spacious, very good shower, on the first floor with close parking, nice amenity of refrigerator right outside the room. There is a TV in this particular room with Netflix available. We opted to take advantage of the dinner offered at the Hartzell House since we were coming off a long drive. Communication about food allergies and preferences was great and the meal was incredible, really delicious and the ambiance comfortable and relaxing. The B&B is beautifully maintained with lots of cute seating areas and lovely outdoor space. The included breakfast was another feast and there were delicious cookies and tea offered throughout our time there. Melissa and Robert are warm, welcoming, efficient and great cooks! I would not hesitate to recommend to friends and family and can't wait to return to explore the other F.L. Wright properties and other attractions in the area. Thank you for a wonderful and relaxing stay, Robert & Melissa!…
Hartzell House was perfect for a weekend getaway and trip to Fallingwater. Robert and Melissa are welcoming, engaging and knowledgeable about the area. They are also creative and talented cooks: we had a memorable artichoke souffle for breakfast, with elegant little treats as well to satisfy a sweet tooth. The room and bath were well appointed, and the house offers inviting rooms for taking a break around your activities. I will definitely look for a reason to go back.
My wife and I stayed at this delightful bed-and-breakfast when visiting falling Waters. Our experience was as excellent as all the reviews I had read. The hosts were delightful. The food was outstanding. the home and property clean and comfortable. It was a perfect location close to Ohio Pyle and falling Waters. I can’t say enough good things.
This place definitely deserves more than one night. Rooms are very nice and super clean, food is excellent and abundant, the house itself is full of little spots where you can relax in any season (fireplace, garden, veranda).
Melissa and Robert did a wonderful job during our stay. We were very happy with their hospitality and the long commute totally worth it. They serve perfect meal and creat the best experience we could ever ask for during our visit. Thank you so much Melissa and Robert!
My husband has stayed at many B&Bs and this stay with Robert & Melissa, was my first B&B experience. Let me tell you, for me, the bar has been set and it's high!!! The property is gorgeous, clean, well organized and maintained. Any and everything we would need is there or available to us. And the breakfast! Oh my! Wonderful, just wonderful. We had stuffed french toast, a belgian waffle, fruit and the most amazing ginger syrup! We stayed in the Angler Room which had a very comfortable bed, and in room bath. We also spent some time in a common area with a cozy couch and workspace. If we visit the area again, we will definitely plan to stay there again. Don't miss the opportunity if you're looking for accomodations.
