Stayed here for a getaway weekend and we could have not been more pleased. Very warm and friendly atmosphere and within walking distance to downtown. Great location. Our bedroom, downstairs, was very cozy and bed very comfortable. Breakfast was very good too. Our favorite though was the gardens. Beautiful! We sat outside each night with a bottle of wine and just relaxed amongst the plants and beauty. Will go back when we return.

What a find! From the moment we arrived, we were greeted like comfortable old friends. The rooms are very clean, bed comfortable and the breakfast -- oh my! -- just wonderful. We loved how close the inn was to downtown. We so enjoyed reading in the garden and chatting with the other guests.

Chanticleer Inn is the best part of visiting Ashland. Ellen is such a capable and gracious hostess. Yes, I love the theater, the art galleries, walking in Lithia Park; staying at Chanticleer Inn is what makes all of that so comfortable and so doable.

Dear Linda, Another great visit -- a bit too short, it always seems that way! Thank you for lovely review. Ellen

Due to a family emergency in San Francisco, we had to bring an extra family member with us on our road trip to Oregon. Ellen was so understanding, and wonderfully flexible. She more than accommodated us, and in the morning served us an absolutely AMAZING gourmet breakfast of gluten- free carrot cake, poached pear with compote, a gorgonzola & vegetable crustless quiche, twice baked potato, fruit, fresh herbs and French press coffee!!! The location is perfect: just a couple of blocks from the Shakespeare Festival and wonderful restaurants. The gardens are beautifully landscaped by Ellen, and include the most lovely pond! It’s a beautiful backdrop for a glass of wine with your love, or a quiet spot to pause and open a good book. Although our visit didn’t turn out to be the romantic night we had hoped for, I can’t wait to come back to Chanticleer Inn for a do over!

Dear TravelnBlonde, Thankfully you happened to book a room that could accommodate three if needed -- and it was needed. Happily, your visit to Ashland didn't compound the family emergency; and perhaps gave you a respite. Thank you for visiting and your lovely review. with best wishes, Ellen

Wife and I stayed at Chanticleer during a visit to the Shakespeare festival. The location is perfect for such a visit, an easy walk to downtown Ashland restaurants, shops and the theaters. Ellen is a great hostess, very knowledgeable about Ashland and the festival and quick to offer suggestions on restaurants and other local activities. The room was very spacious and comfortable and quite. The Inn offers a very nice garden for relaxing any time of day and I would recommend bringing a bottle of white for the guest fridge so you can enjoy a relaxing glass of wine in the gardens before heading out for the evening. Plus, the breakfast at Chanticleer is always something special. This was my first stay at Chanticleer but I was drawn by the large number of reviews from repeat guests. After my visit I can understand why people keep coming back.
