Detailed Reviews
Friendly staff, clean rooms with AC/Heat, TV, Mini Fridge, Microwave, free in-room coffee, hairdryer, iron. Great coffee shop (Boulevard Coffee) with limited hours and an amazing view. Indoor pool/spa. $10 per day credit in the coffee shop which has limited drinks and food offerings from local vendors, bakeries, etc. I could hang out all day in the coffee shop enjoying the view of Grizzly Peak and surrounding areas. Older hotel but well maintained. Also provides free washer/dryer with tables, books and games to keep you entertained while waiting for laundry. Very short walking distance to town (about 2-3 minutes).

Staff was friendly, helpful and attentive.
My request for extra blankets was cheerfully filled
It's a very pet-friendly motel
the 2 queen room felt a little short of space, but not impossible.
view of the eastern mountains
relatively close to downtown. far away from freeway noise
room showed some wear and the bathroom had not been renovated with the rest, but it was all clean.
the Pandemic breakfasts at all hotels have been very lacking but that it true across the board and not the hotel's fault.
One bed was very comfy (soft) while the other had more of the feel of the coils
Would very likely stay here again given the right price.

A friend and I stayed at the Stratford recently for a two night fun trip, since we both love Ashland. I've stayed at the Stratford many times over the years, and there have often been a few issues with cleanliness (somewhat ironic since they have a "professional cleaning service" that they rent out) but nothing that couldn't be overlooked. However, this last time, my friend discovered muddy paw prints on three of the pillows on her bed. Obviously, this didn't make us feel great about the overall cleanliness of the room. I took the pillows down to the desk. The employee was very apologetic, disappeared for about ten minutes, reappeared with new pillows and told me I would be getting "a small refund," which I suppose I should have asked for specifics about. We didn't hear anything else about it for the rest of our stay. A few days later I noticed that I did not, in fact, receive any refund. I reached out to Stratford via their website and didn't get any response. I also sent an email a few days later, and same thing, no response. It's very disappointing to me, because I really do like the location and the employees, but this lack of willingness to make it right for something that definitely shouldn't have happened has certainly changed my perception of the Stratford as a whole, and I'm not sure that I would stay there again or recommend it to others.

Second time here and my reviews are based on the value for money I received with their great off-season rates.
Like others said, the place could use an update and there is somewhat of a musty odour greeting you in the common hallways. My room, however, was generally quite clean and I'm picky, I ran my hair and dust test and it passed. I found the toiletries in mounted dispensers of decent quality and it seems they've greatly improved the quality of the towels since my last stay. My room, this time over the parking lot was much quieter than my last one on the street side so I generally slept well. Some of the furniture is worn but otherwise the room is well maintained and the bed was comfortable. I especially like the hardwood flooring over carpet.
A couple of changes would greatly improve things. A newer single use in-room coffee machine to replace the old drip style, mine was old and not clean, a room safe ( an absolute must when travelling ) and a new door key card system to replace the 1960's style motel keys complete with a plastic tag and room number attached, which I find totally unsafe in 2024 as anyone could copy them and gain access to your room.
Location was spot on, a 10 min walk to the centre of town, I didn't indulge in the cold breakfast offerings but the coffee was decent.
As I tend to workout while away, I especially appreciated the free access to nearby Snap Fitness, a very well equipped 24 hour gym just a 5 min drive from the hotel.
For what I paid I was pleased and if I could get a similar rate next time I'm in Ashland I'd stay at the Stratford Inn again. Oh and staff were great!

Great location for walking to downtown Ashland , the town is beautiful and the room was comfortable for a one-night stay (the shower/tub combo was kinda old-fashioned "motel" style) but it fit the bill.
Kinda weird to charge for basic amenities at the front desk like a single toothbrush, I ended up going to the Safeway across the street since I could pick out a nicer toothbrush at a lower price point.
The staff was nice and the price was right! Would recommend for Ashland visitors.

Although the Stratford Inn shows its age around the edges, it's clean, the staff are friendly, and the room we had was spacious. The parking is free and the pool, which we didn't try, looked pleasant. We also enjoyed the free breakfast offered as a pick-up with the pandemic not yet totally under control. We also appreciated that everyone masked up, because even though we are vaccinated, we know immune-compromised people who understandably don't feel comfortable when masking is not enforced. So thanks, Stratford Inn. We wouldn't hesitate to stay again.

3 of us stayed at the Stratford Inn at the beginning of our road trip to Southern California. We chose the Stratford Inn based on reviews and its proximity to the Shakespeare Festival and restaurants.
Upon entering our room, we noticed a musty smell. We opened the windows to air it out, but later that evening upon getting in to bed, the sheets were damp. Yuck!
Also, it has a somewhat stocked kitchen with a few glasses, plates, etc, but no dishwashing soap and no handsoap. The bar of hand soap in the bathroom was so small, it didn't last overnight with 3 of us. There were food crumbs in the living area. The hot tub was closed (a determining factor in my choice of hotel)
They have you fill out a form for breakfast (included). Each guest may choose a TOTAL of FOUR items, which we did. The next morning, we were each given a brown paper bag containing our breakfast. Although we each ordered a banana, there were none. Same with the yogurt. Orange Juice was supposed to be provided, there was none. We asked for extra oatmeal to make up for the missing items... they were out.
We were on the road for 2 weeks. This was our least favorite place.

Smack dab between downtown Ashland and the university area - surrounded by conveniences like Safeway and a pot store. Upon entering, you're struck by the exceptionally lovely pool & spa area & the exceptionally friendly front desk staff. The bedrooms are not visually stunning but they're clean, comfortable, and well-equipped (coffee, fridge, microwave, cable TV, multiple bath products). I think I was most impressed the free breakfast space which both had an ambiance and a nice selection of food that felt homemade. This Feb 2024 visit was about $120 per night.

+1
This is my second stay in at the Stratford Inn and probably the best of the stays. I booked through Booking.com and got a brilliant rate. The hotel is only a short 5 minute walk to the picturesque centre of town and as a bonus it’s across the road from Safeway. The hallways are tastefully decorated with Shakespeare posters and past festivals
The hotel rooms are clean and comfortable with wooden floors which my I prefer. There is also a fridge and microwave provided as well. There is also a pool and laundry facilities as well. Breakfast is included but is basic with oats, bread, boiled eggs and yogurt.
For the money I paid, it was a great stay and I would certainly come back. All the staff were really friendly and helpful. A 5 star stay.

Hotel is on a busy street. Both entrances are always locked, you have to find your way to a small door through a carport...room was dark and smelly ,the ac noisy. The breakfast (with a great view on the Safeway parking lot )was uneatable . Only two good points : friendly staff and cleanliness.

Yes, breakfast is included!
Don’t know too much about it other than you need to provide your own linens for beds. There is a free on site laundry available as well as indoor pool and spa and a nice coffee sho with limited food offerings. Great location as well
Not sure? We didn't bring our pooches and I didn't see any but that doesn't mean its not an option.
