Simple with old fashion style, this hotel takes you back in time. It is centrally located with and excellent restaurant, the Lark, on the premise. A perfect location to explore Ashland and enjoy the Shakespeare plays.
This hotel is charming and comfortable, and my corner room on the fourth floor was quite large. Its heritage status is well merited, and the fact that there was a '1920's' movie being shot in the elegant lobby when I was staying there was not surprising! Noise from the street was almost non-existent, and there were plenty of places on various floors to sit, have your coffee, and read the paper. Any room at the front has a glorious view of the Ashland Hills, and the several Oregon Shakespeare Festival theatres, as well as a large number of shops, are a five minute walk away.
The rooms are on the small side, with a bed built for 3/4, most beds are longer than they are wide, not here. A better use of the space could be imagined. The breakfast was simple and basic and the breakfast room was small but you could spill out onto the mezzanine above the main reception. In its time this was a very elegant/grand hotel, time has moved on.
If you like modern hotels with all of the rooms just the same and standard breakfasts, this is not the place for you. QUAINT and CHARMING best describe this hotel. It has a very good dining room where we had a gourmet dinner of fresh fish. The wine selection is stellar. High tea was beautifully served. Breakfast was varied and self serve. The 4 of us were a bit tight around our small glass table in our the balcony area. But, we loved our rooms. They were quite different but roomy. We enjoyed visiting in our friends’ suite. The hotel was an excellent choice for us. They cater to the theatre crowd which we were a part of. The location is perfect for wandering around town and shopping! I can’t imagine a more perfect place for us to meet our friends and enjoy time together in comfort.…
We stayed at the Ashland Springs August 27 -30 - four nights. The location can't be beat for someone going to the OSF plays: a 5 minute walk & you're at your seat. Lots of good places to eat in easy walking distance, Litha Park (which is wonderful, take the 10 am tour), and a good selection of interesting shops. The morning breakfast & afternoon tea are both nice, and a great way to start the day. A special shout out to Gigi LaRossa, the concierge: She was most helpful and helped us find some very special places to dine. All in all, a wonderful place to stay.
