We stayed in the Music Department room when visiting the college. The room is fairly large and decorated musical instruments and other musically themed items. The bed is large and very comfortable. The bathroom is also spacious and has a whirlpool tub. The heated floor was a nice touch in August. I'm sure that it would be even better in the winter. I thought that I was going to fall through the chair to the floor, but once I got in, it was fairly comfortable. The room has little to no street noise. However, it is a little noisy in the morning as the kitchen is right outside the room. If you are a light sleeper who wants to sleep in, I'd suggest one of the upstairs rooms. I sleep like a log so this room was great for me. Breakfast was filling and tasty.
There are a few name-brand hotels in Ashland to choose from, but why? Why stay in impersonal, cookie-cutter accommodations on just another highway exit when you can enrich your traveling experience by resting in familiar, home style comfort in the heart of town- close to anything and everything of interest? And real food- oh, my Lord! We had a three-day stop in Ashland for a visit with friends and found College House to be the most attractive of all our hospitality options. Personal service, true attention to our needs and again- real food. Amazing. Our host was warm and friendly. Traveling can be stressful enough, so it's almost therapeutic to have a homey environment with all the amenities to look forward to each day when you find yourself away from home. We cannot recommend College House enough to the weary traveler who also wants a real feel for quaint, small town living.…
I stayed at College House for three nights while attending a conference at the university, and it is one of the nicest places I have ever stayed at. Kathy is the perfect host, who went above and beyond to make sure I enjoyed my stay (even drove me to a restaurant for dinner and took me out to see the town!). The place is immaculate! A great variety of delicious things for breakfast, and there are always snacks, hot drinks and chocolate available for you to help yourself. Extremely well set-up and very convenient for the centre of town as well as the university. The spa in the English Department was particularly welcome after a walk on a wintry day! If you are going to Ashland, you can't go past College House!!
I'm an AU alum, and me and one of my former AU roommates return every few years for Homecoming. We've stayed here twice in the History Room and it is always great. For two friends on a girls weekend the twin beds are perfect! Kathy takes time to talk to each guest at breakfast, and the food is outstanding and plentiful. The house is warm, welcoming, spotless, and you truly feel like you can use any of the common areas of the house without feeling awkward. It is very close to the AU campus as well, and beats all the other local hotels out of the water. Stay here!
The house was clean and well decorated. Every amenity you could imagine was available, both in the common areas as well as in the ensuite. The breakfast looked like it belonged in Bon Apetit and tasted like it came from a four-star restaurant. The innkeeper is charming and made me feel very comfortable. This B&B rivals those in Ireland! It is well-located in the heart of Ashland, an easy walk from the university.
