Fabulous vacation. If you are looking for a place to get away, disconnect, be in a beautiful location, enjoy family time riding horses, playing games, relaxing by the pool, go to KD Ranch. It’s in a beautiful part of Ohio with rolling hills of green as far as you can see. Dave and Kerry and their family make you feel like family. They are so hospitable. Their kids have the gift of hospitality as well, engaging our kids in fun around the ranch. Thank you for one of our best vacations ever. The food was also great and plentiful.
Wonderful place to disconnect from everyday life, relax, absorb nature and connect with people and animals. First weeklong visit was in September 2018, second was September 2019, then an overnight in February 2020. Just warned them that I want to come back again this coming September for another week :) I love how the only decision I’ve ever had to make while there was whether I wanted cheese on my burger or not - Absolutely Sublime. Everything exceeds expectations; accommodations, food, grounds, animals, and activities. They should be commended for their dedication to providing such a great atmosphere and experience for their guests.
I'm not very good at writing reviews because I never do it...that's how worthy this trip is of writing one. There really are no words to describe just how perfect everything about this ranch is. My son wanted to go to dude ranch for his 13th birthday so when I started researching locations, I was thrilled to find one in the Midwest. Dave and Kari Burkey have literally thought of everything to make your stay a little sweeter. Food, fun, trail rides, entertainment, the perfect amount of down time to relax, etc. They have wonderful children who warm your heart and make you feel right at home. This experience was truly magical and unique. Jackson says we will be making it an annual trip.
My daughter and I drove from Washington DC for her 9th birthday celebration. “Favorite Birthday Ever!” just about sums it up. Even though it was booked the weekend before and the following weekend, we lucked out and mostly had the place to ourselves. Dave and family were genuinely welcoming and my daughter got to help with farm chores. She is a horse lover and the two rides a day were heavenly. She even got to ride a Tennessee Walker. The horses are beautiful and well cared for. Part of the riding experience was learning to groom and saddle, and a highlight was the training demonstration in the round pen. The food was delicious and sitting down with the family for meals felt more like Thanksgiving dinner than perfunctory mess hall dining elsewhere. The evenings were filled with games of pool, movies in the lower level theater and endless rounds of foosball in the game room. Our cabin was spacious, sparkling clean with a loft for my daughter, full kitchen and tasteful decor. Our visit was a tradition in the making!…
So good, I am going back! Looking forward to reconnecting with old friends I met there. Oh god the food is also amazeballs! Rode horses twice a day. The Wilds trip was hilarious. Don’t sit in the back of the bus lol
