Just came back from a 2 week stay, hotel was amazing only downside was room dated and too many steps but this did not stop how holiday. Idan the general manager was very friendly and polite, the view from the sunset bar was amazing and the bar staff were fantastic and friendly and couldn't do enough for you. The food was amazing so much fresh veg/salad and the hot food was lovely with such a good choice to choose from, we are looking to go back again next year as this was a fantastic place to visit and again the staff were amazing and couldn't do enough for.

Gumbet area is just boring, if you want to see something you should to take the public transport or a taxi (around 4€). In Bodrum centrum you can find everything what you need. Telephone card, clothes, tipical turkish food etc.. I was reading a lot of reviews and i decided to don't pay attention and just go. Some people make bigger the problems, but trust me, i was trying to be out of the hotel as much as i can. I was regretting every single euro that i put on my holidays. Reception: If you have a problem , better fix it on your own. I wanted to let them know how was my room and a girl told me that all the rooms are broken. Just like that. Oh, and the wifi doesnt work in your OWN room. You have to go to the main building to take it. Room: Just go inside you can smell something like sweat? In the douche there was oxide in all of it. Plus the water all the time stay. You had to wait till go down. Restaurant: Was good food, the workers are attentive. Bar: Depends who is the bartender will be your drink. Entertainment?: I was readding before i go holidays that the people was happy about it, but..Sorry? There are two girls (They only talk to the group of guys; literally i saw it in all the week that i was there.) and then a guy. He was the only one i saw speaking with different people all week. I have been working like entertainment for a few years, and trust me, that is not even close. GYM: About "fitness" gym. Really, better don't write that you have a gym, when you only have two or three machines that hardly works. SPA: Really good and nice people.

I'll break this down into sections and explain why it's only a 2 star stay ,(we stayed 11/07/22 for 7 nights and are in our early 30's) Accommodation - the superior twin room we had was adequate, noisy Aircon that dripped but was essential because of the 39*c heat. Beds were ok but got worse as the week went on. Had a little fridge (we will come back to this in a minute). Was in a decent location near the restaurant and pools. The views of bitez are stunning. Food - really enjoyed the food, really nice fresh and a decent variety. Drinks - not premium but they done a nice enough cocktail, Tuborg beer and wine... Pepsi, 7up and fanta orange. Staff - young staff all a bit unbothered but nice enough, be warned though they speak very little English other than 1 girl at reception and the manager. (Even ordering a diet Coke was hard at times) Location - you couldn't really walk to either bitez or gumbet because of the steepness of the hill and the 39 heat! however the bus is an excellent service and only costs 10tl which is 50p! Or a taxi for about 30tl which is £1.50. I thoroughly recommend going into main Bodrum which takes about 20 mins by bus as it's a lovely place to see. Swimming pools - got a little bit busy but we always managed to find at least one sunbed. HOUSE KEEPING - unfortunately this ruined our trip and was not taken seriously enough by the hotel receptionist or manager in my opinion. We came back to our room after a day out to find a made bed, floor unswept, no toilet roll... But an opened can of fanta orange on the side which had had a few sips taken from it... On further inspection it was my wife's can of fanta that was left in the little fridge unopened when we left a few hours earlier... The house keeping had opened it drank it and left it on the side!! My wife complained to reception and they said it was "impossible that this could happen" they eventually said they would speak to the house keeping manager to report it and send another do not disturb sign as ours went missing the first day! You might think that this was a mistake and that we simply forgot that we'd opened the fanta... The next day a packet of my chewing gum had been opened with a piece missing. We couldn't believe it but dismissed it slightly. The next day a whole can of Pepsi mango went missing from the fridge (this was a definite as I have never tried it and wanted to taste it) this was the final straw for me as it made us feel pretty violated... I went to reception and told them what had happened and insisted on seeing the General manager, he wasn't available so we arranged to see him the next morning. The receptionist said she would again send down a DND sign for the room but again we didn't get one so I took to leaving a chair Infront of the door. The next morning we told the manager Mehmet what had happened and he said he understood and would speak to the housekeeping manager and let us know the outcome. (We still haven't heard from him) This completely ruined our trip, the whole culture of the place was too laid back and maybe this is the Turkish way but what the housekeeper had done was theft! It may only be a few bits of drink and gum, but what would happen if you left money on the side or jewelry? ANY SORT OF THEFT IN A HOTEL SHOULD BE STAMPED OUT AND TAKEN INCREDIBLY SERIOUSLY! We unfortunately didn't feel this had been at all. Would never ever return to this Hotel and anyone who reads this and is expecting a 4* hotel I would brace yourself for a 2/3 star experience. Also DO NOT LEAVE ANYTHING IN YOUR FRIDGE OR ROOM THAT YOU DONT WANT TO BE TAKEN

Honest review from a seasoned Traveller: First of all, what the Turkish class as 4 star is more like 2-3 star for people in the UK. Yes; the rooms are dated and some are poorly decorated – but they are clean. Yes; there are a lot of steps but it is a hillside resort… I was lucky enough to be in a block just below road level so I was fine – but other people I met moaned about the steps as they were right down the hill. 3x pools on 3 different levels – 2 have bars, top level pool is quietest and less busy. Food: buffet style – loads of fresh salad and 4-5 hot dishes to choose from each meal + BBQ each day (fish/kebab etc) Fresh fruit and plenty of sweet stuff as well. A solid 9/10 from me Bars/Drinks: Top level bar (10am-6pm) – main Bar three levels down (10am-11pm) – drinks typically watered down but if you tip regularly the staff give you larger measures. On-site shop sells drink after 11pm. Spa: Wonderful – I always have a Turkish bath first day of holiday – it prepares skin for a deep tan – 2hr experience including massage for about £35 – well worth it. Went back for another massage a few days later (proper sports/medical) – felt great after! Staff: Treat them with respect and they will do anything for you. Transport: Taxi button outside hotel – arrives in 30 seconds – about £2.50 to Bodrum (20 mins away) or Dolmus (aircon shared bus) every 10 mins from outside hotel (50p to Bodrum) Rooms: Basic – but I don’t go abroad to spend all day in my room – I go there to sleep! Entertainment: once a week a live band which was great. Animation team only spoke to Turkish tourists to arrange nights out. No big deal. I enjoyed actually talking to fellow tourists without loud music etc. Top Tip: Tip, tip, tip! 20lira (£1) a day to cleaner, barman, waiter – a grand total of £21 for 7x nights and you will be very well looked after from extra water in room (and a spare electric card left in slot so aircon on all the time), wine waiting for you on table at restaurant and priority service at bar with decent measures! THE HOTEL STAFF EARN approx £2.25/hour so a small tip each day is massive to them! Will I go back? Yes

We arrived to a dirty battered room, which included missing, flaky paintwork, water stains on walls and ceiling. Lots of bugs, a broken door, rusty metal parts in room, mould, mould on the mattress, stained bedding. In the communal areas there were broken sun beds and umbrellas. The sun beds were also badly stained. The food was as best average, the kitchen areas that you could see were filthy and covered in grease. The drink was cheap and nasty spirits and local lager served in thin paper cups. Our personal information was disclosed to local reps who constantly badger you to book massively over priced local excursions available at half the cost locally. These reps harass you by the pool and get aggressive when you book elsewhere. There are groups of people shouting and hanging around the pools to the early hours. Us and many others complained to reception on a daily basis but were greeted by unhelpful and sometimes aggressive staff. Please check out the other reviews. This place is awful. Many of the better reviews are definitely fake! We have lodged a formal complaint with out travel agent.

At the top of a hill but buses every 10 minutes to Gumbet & Bodrum. The resort is steps everywhere, definitely not disabled friendly, if you use crutches you will struggle, in a wheelchair you've got no chance. Not even to get into the entrance. Rooms are no more than 2☆, very few rooms have balconies. You need to be a cat lover as there are quite a few, kept to keep vermin, bugs & lizard free, it works. They weren't intrusive but a bit of a pain if you don't like cats. Gripe over on the plus side...All inclusive - The 3 pools are good. At meal times in the restaurant food is excellent, lots of variety hot & cold, drinks readily available. Staff are first class always ready to help. The bar area is open and being on top of a hill is very windy which doesn't help if your drink is in a paper cup. Staff a bit slow at serving and seem to favour those that tip. Reception staff are great especially Nat, nothing was too much trouble for her, an absolute darling. My 2nd night problem with noisy neighbours was solved by Nat moving me to a quieter area to make this old man's stay a lot better because honestly I would have gone elsewhere or an early flight home. To sum up....You get what you pay for, its not 4☆, 3 at best comparing to say Spain or Canary Islands, I may venture back to Turkey at some point but not here and not Bodrum. The best part of my holiday was meeting fellow Uk travellers and Nat on reception

We have just returned from the Riva and have to say it was fantastic. The accommodation is fantastic, rooms are lovely and clean and well maintained and the staff are absolutely brilliant, nothing was too much of an effort. We stayed mainly by the pool near the restaurant / bar area and it was lovely. The views over the bay are unbelievable. The food in the all inclusive restaurant was lovely also, the waiters were so attentive, again nothing was too much trouble. Apart from a slight confusion on the last day over late checkout I have to say this is the place to stay in Bitez / Gumbet. We loved it soo much we are going back for the first 2 weeks of October, we can’t wait. 5 ⭐️ Thank you Riva Bodrum Reaort, can’t wait to see you soon.

I booked this hotel as it was cheap and had amazing reviews. I couldn’t believe my luck when I found it. Now that I have visited Riva Bodrum, I am very shocked at the high rating and Im wondering who wrote the reviews… When we arrived, the lady at the desk was somewhat helpful, asked if we were hungry and told us it was 2 minutes until dinner ended. We didn’t go because we didn’t want to rush. We got taken to our room by a lovely man who carried our cases down some stairs and into the room. The room was very small with just enough room to walk at the end of the bed. The shower was absolutely tiny and the doors barely even opened enough to get in it. There weren’t any main lights, only lamps but we had to unplug them to charge our phones so often had to use torches. The first night we only had 1 sheet on the 2 single beds pushed together so had to share a small sheet between 2 adults. The bed itself was hard and got more uncomfortable as the week went on. Not to mention the floors being filthy in the room. The food was alright. A few nights I was very impressed as they had kebab, burger patties, turkey and various other meats and fish. It did get very samey. I can’t fully blame the hotel for this but there was often stray cats in the restaurant which made me uncomfortable as they would sit by your feet and beg for food. Guests would usually feed them. The alcohol is included but only a very few select spirits such as gin, vodka and raiki. I do feel as though they were made weaker as you would have to have about 10 vodkas to even get tipsy. There were 3 pools. The pool closest to our room was the pool by the sunset bar. The views were amazing, but somehow nothing like I expected from Riva’s Instagram page. The poolside was cleaned every night but often got very dirty during the day, probably due to the shop that sells snacks and drinks being right next to the poolside. You have to pay extra for the drinks and snacks but they did very reasonably priced souvenirs in the shop and the man was very lovely. On one of our last nights, the band was playing that I saw all over Riva’s social media. On Instagram, they displayed sparklers, drinks fountains, champagne. It was absolutely nothing like this, I never saw special drinks and we were at the bar every night. The band itself was decent but just as everyone started dancing and having a good time, a huge fire was spotted. The band stopped abruptly, the staff were running and shouting. The fire looked like it was coming from where our room was, so we ran over in panic. It happened to be in the staff accommodation just behind. Our room stank of spoke and we ran in to grab our passports just in case something happened. This obviously isn’t entirely the hotels fault but I do believe the faulty electric (it was a fan fire) and the age of the hotel played a part. Staff were okay, Zaynep was absolutely lovely. She was round in the evenings and chatted to us about parties down in the town which obviously wouldn’t suit everyone. I didn’t catch any other names, although everyone on here seemed to shoutout so many staff? I didn’t get introduced once and none of them had name badges. Just seems a bit weird. Overall, for the price paid, it was acceptable. I would not return, and I would not recommend. Please read the recent and more honest reviews of the hotel before booking. I’m sure you could find something, maybe even in a different part of Turkey, that was much cleaner and more modern.
