We arrived in the early hours and was greeted at the door, quickly checked in and shown to our room. We went to the bar for a quick drink, Ozz the barman and Elgin were super friendly and spent some time chatting to us. They are fab.
The rooms are basic but clean and got to say the king-size bed was probably the comfiest we've ever slept in while abroad. The rooms are in need of some TLC, especially the bathroom. Shower was powerful but the shower doors had come off the runners and the sink tap was literally a dribble but for the amount of time we spent in the room it wasn' t worth mentioning.
Air con (which was needed) and safety deposit box were £50 for both for the week.
Breakfast was OK but we missed it a few mornings so ordered full English, delicious, as was all the bar food.
We got a late checkout till 6pm which was £20, definately needed as our flight was a late one.
All in all we had a great time and would definately book again if the price was right.
This hotel, despite feeling like going in to the tardis for the first time on arrival, is a real jewel!
The staff are fantastic, ossie, engay and all the team go out of their way to help in every way to ensure you enjoy your stay.
The hotel has been done out recently and our room, 405, had a great upstairs view of the pool.
During our time, July 9 to 16th, there were ample sun beds but this may change in peak season?
Breakfast was typically turkish with plenty of choice and every other day one of the staff would do omelettes and pancakes to order.
The restaurant served food until around 2100 and we ate there for the majority of our stay and must say there was enough choice for us and every meal we had was good ranging in price from around 175 to 400 turkish lira per head.
Other costs included air con for £35 per week, safe in room for £15 per week and last day kick out time is noon but you can extend til 5pm for £20 or 6pm for £25. I would suggest having your tab paid every day and getting a receipt as we didn't realise there was 10 per cent already added on to the bill and often tipped extra. Our fault not theirs for not checking.
The pool is the Center piece of the hotel and was open from 9am til 8pm but watch out! It is over 5 and a half feet all around with no shallow end entrance.
Book this and you will enjoy, plenty of other restaurants and bars around and the beach is a 5 to 10 minute walk away!
We went on holiday to relax and do nothing and we came back having done both of those things thanks to this little beauty of a place.
The pool is a nice size and there are plenty of sunbeds. There is also a garden with a comfy area and a couple of exercise machines. Both of these areas are cleaned regularly and you can have drinks poolside or in the garden area.
The rooms are small but nicely decorated. The beds are extremely comfortable and you can ask for extra pillows. The shower in our room was very cosy, not a lot of wiggle room, but does the job. We had issues with some elements of the housekeeping but this was rectified as soon as we spoke to Ali. Towels and bedding are not changed daily but this is not a problem as we don't change these daily at home. There is a balcony with stools and a table, ours was overlooking a courtyard and fairly private. There is a fridge in the room for you to keep your drinks cool and for an additional fee you can have use of the air conditioning and valuables safe. You can also extend your room stay on the last day, for a small fee, if you have a later flight.
Breakfast is continental with local meats and cheeses, fresh fruit and salad, fresh bread and cereal. There are hot foods which change daily such as scrambled egg, sausage, omelette and pancakes. Drinks included are tea, coffee, water and orange juice. There is a lunch menu you can order from and the food we had was very nice. The chef even made us some fresh tomato soup which was not on the menu and it was delicious.
If I were to add suggestions to improve the overall experience I would say an information pack in the room would be helpful, chairs rather than stools on the balcony, a bin in the bedroom area and glasses provided in the room. These are not necessary but would make the space even better.
Serpina is located close to restaurants, shops and local transport (taxis and dolmus). Less than 10 minutes walk will get you to Gumbet beach where there are many more restaurants where you can use the sunbeds for free if you buy drinks/food.
If we ever return to Gumbet we would definitely stay at Serpina. Thank you for having us.
