Visited the beach bar on a recent trip to bodrum and we were somewhat disappointed. We had been told this was the place to visit but couldn’t really see why on arrival. The grounds were pretty but not as nice as we expected for a place of its reputation (and price). We stayed at the edition hotel which, in comparison, was far more impressive, immaculate, cleaner and just had a much friendlier, professional and chic atmosphere. On arrival at the beach bar at Macakizi we were told that there is a minimum charge of 1500 Turkish lira (£80) per person. We were pretty surprised by this especially as we visited out of season, the beach bar was more than half empty and no where else we have visited (in bodrum or anywhere in the world) imposed such a rule. Needless to say, we didn’t stay because we just couldn’t see how we could spend anywhere near that much for drinks at a beach bar. We had 3 course meals at fine dining restaurants for that price so we were really confused by this rule, it just didn’t seem fitting for Bodrum but I guess that’s how this place operates and it seems to work for them. I can’t comment on the standard of food or hotel accommodation as didn’t try either.…
We heard a lot about the place so it was our first beach club to go to . We are staying at the edition and the service here is impeccable and friendly . When we got to the macakazi they were looking for our reservation for some time and were not like welcome! When we got down to the lounge level they showed us to a floor space with a wood lounge (basically you sit on the floor and on top of each other ) and just dumped a towel on it . They weren't rude ..they just weren't friendly . We got drinks and when we went up to eat they told us it was buffet --I hate buffet so I barely ate .My husband thought he was eating string bean salad but it was peppers and he ate 3 at a time and I thought he was having a stroke .The chef made us a beautiful piece of fish over a bed of broccoli rabe . The place is cool and clean and the music was weird at first I think they were playing Broadway show tunes .By the time we were leaving the crowd was around the bar and the music was picking up. When we left they gave us someone else's bill for thousands of dollars by accident .... Just overrated .…
I visited the hotel as a guest from the edition to have sun beds and we already booked unfortunate the staff weren’t friendly at all and they gave us only 2 beds instead of 3 and they asked us to pay for 3 ppl ! Which is unfair at all and they asked me to leave the hotel if we are not happy ! What a staff and what a service are they are providing thanks god it’s not complimentary otherwise they might of kicked me out of the hotel ! Worst staff ever !!!!!
A great pet friendly hotel, with amazing food and top service. Really loved the feeling in this hotel which has an authentic bodrum feel. The rooms are just what you need and everything is on hand from the team. The wine selection is very special and the beach club is so comfortable and relaxing. Definitely come back for more fun times and Manti! Best, Pablo
Great location, great crowd, all around pleasant experience. Beach area is wonderful and secluded, allows for a peaceful rest while soaking some sun. Executive chef Aret Sahakyan is world-class, and has a great selection of dishes for the menu. It is generally hard to find a perfect combination of great food with great views, especially at vacation spots. But Aret is among those few talented chefs that prove there is no need to compromise, you can have both!
Honestly I don’t know how come this hotel is “legendary”. For a price of 370 euro per night (and this is an off peak rate) you get an outdated tired tiny room which screams for renovation and some proper cleaning. Service is non existent. No welcome drink, no turndown service, no concierge and I could go on and on. The restaurant is ok. But not a revelation in any way. Trust me - just order simple dishes (tomato salad, lamb chops etc. ) because when the chef tries to be creative and starts playing with ingredients, he fails. On the plus side - The beach area is nice and well equipped, lush gardens are beautiful. To conclude - it’s basically a trendy beach club with some rooms on offer but no means is it a proper luxury seaside resort.
Macakizi exceeded all of our expectations. We stayed here after a busy few days in Istanbul and Capadocia and it was the perfect, relaxing end to our trip. We were a little nervous due to some negative reviews recently but we do not have one bad thing to say. Beach area is great, lots of sun beds and good music/vibes. The service is excellent, we could not fault any staff member. Hotel was fully equipped for COVID and we felt safe at all times. All food was amazing, from breakfast to beach lunch and three course dinner - the best we have had in a hotel in a long time. Watersports were very fun! We had to change our arrangements due to UK quarantine rules and Macakizi were so accommodating. It is a more expensive option in Bodrum but worth every penny in our opinion!
I haven’t been here in 5 years unfortunately. it’s about my 12th time coming. The place was definitely hopping. Great crowd. Very multicultural and so cool to see people from all around our world. Got to catch a glimpse of an artist doing his live painting performance. My only complaint was the DJ was really disappointing. He was super rigid & music was monotonous. it got a little bit better at 5 but by 615, we were all ready to leave.. He doesn’t step out of the safe zone and plays the exact set that every basic dj is playing - without mixing in anything he’s found on his own. Nothing new. Uninspiring I tried to encourage him to play a couple of other tracks. (He played the same Dolly Parton song everyone played-out this summer..) Not asking much but since I am always out- - even a cool lounge like Q in Gocek had me loving the dj ❤️ anticipating that next track while we ordered our next round.. We drove to Alacatı 2 days later Biblos.. The Stay Warehouse.. love love L’Orient.. I currently live in Istanbul so after talking to a few people about my ‘off’ encounter with the ultra sensitive DJ (who seemed disgruntled by my approach even though people were leaving for Edition) I realized why he is Resident dj I wondered why so many amazing DJs are hidden and a place like Macakazi had a mediocre DJ.. Turns out..he went to college with the manager. 🤔🙄 Boooo People usually go to hang out until five and then they start to leave lol I wouldn’t say anything except I used to DJ for W hotels openings all across the world..But the music definitely does matter. Thank God for the place itself, the rest of the ambience, the chef and the bartenders 🥂…
We went to the beach club, parked our car at the valet parking. It’s a beautiful place very clean and the service is good. The staff are professionals and they can speak well English. The food there is very nice also their drinks! Unfortunately we didn’t enjoy the music we left before they started at around 18:30. But for sure I will go again and I recommend.
It was our first time at the hotel and we enjoyed a lot our stay. Service is really good, there is always someone available to help you. We also enjoyed sun beds style, the deck, bar and the restaurant. We had 4 dinners at the hotel and were able to try different options of plates. One is better than the other. The food is superb! Our only comment is that the mattress of the couple’s bed needs be updated (it felt old and too soft) and the sofa bed was so hard, that our daughter had to sleep on the bed with us). Regarding COVID-19, all the measures were in place. We felt very safe.
