Turkey Creek Campground was recommended by great friends and they were right! The owners are so sweet and the campground was awesome. Close to places to visit. Bonus...clean bathrooms and showers. Thanks for a great stay!
This campground is everything for a quiet relaxing nature given experience. It’s located down into a small area with a babbling brook that runs along the back of the campground. There is a wonderful hiking path that takes you to Fontana Lake with trees, plants, wild flowers and the brook can be seen and heard. The park is kept natural and has the cleanest bathrooms, showers, and laundry facilities. We will be back without an evacuation!
We stayed there for four nights in late May. This is the first campground I've been to that had mainly tent campers. Each site has towering trees nearby or on the site, so there is plenty of shade. The bathrooms and showers were immaculate. The service was low key and spot on. The location is convenient to a multitude of activities. We'll definitely be returning.
This well maintained campground, located minutes from the Tsali bike trails and several river outfitters, is highly recommended.very quiet, large sites, and great owners on site. $30+/- per night with electricity and water on site. Clean and large tile restrooms, laundry, and sinks for doing dishes. We got site 48, which is shaded all day, Other sites back up to Turkey Creek. Not much for kids to do, long walk to lake, and no swimming, to speak of. This is a perfect spot for cyclists. 41 miles of great single track only a few miles away and plenty of challenging road biking as well.
The minute we pulled in we fell in love. The owners and their dog were there to greet us which made us feel very welcome. We stayed in site 16/17. It typically is a RV site but we used it to park our other vehicle. It was plenty of room for my boyfriend and I and our two service dogs. We liked that it was a little more secluded than the other spots so our dogs had a big space to play. Our favorite part of the site is the creek. It so peaceful to listen to as we slept. We really enjoyed the hiking trail which leads to Fontana lake. The trail itself 3/4 of a mile. The bathrooms are nice and well kept. There is firewood onsite to purchase for $3 a bundle. The location is great, it took us about 10-15 minutes to get to the Nantahala Outdoor Center(NOC). The NOC is a great place to white water raft, zip line, have lunch etc. I especially loved it because one of the restaurants on site(Rivers End) has Gluten free pizza :) and if you get a bit more adventurous and would like some beautiful views and a boat ride head passed the NOC and turn left onto Wayah Rd and go to Lakes End Marina and Grill. We took a boat out on the beautiful Nantahala Lake. Our trip was amazing and we can not wait to return. The only thing I suggest is to bring bug spray! …
