Just finished a one-week stay at Turkey Creek Campground. What a great place! Immaculate bath house with great showers and facilities. Covered porch with rockers for chilling out after a day on the trail. Staff is friendly and helpful. Ice and firewood (cheap!) are available on site. Our stay was quiet; the other campers were active paddlers and mountain bikers. No drama, easy living. Highly recommend this campground for peace and tranquility and ready-access to Tsali Trails, Fontana Lake and Bryson City/Cherokee.
We spent every other weekend at Turkey Creek this summer. Rick is always there to help us get a great site, answer questions, and he makes it feel like I have come home. There are many Fridays that I work from the deck that overlooks the campground. The internet in that spot makes it feel like I am in the office. I have not had any noise issues at night and the bathrooms are the nicest of any campground I have ever been to. The location is great near Tsali, and the Nantahala River. For the most amazing boating experience check out Endless River Adventures. At both of these places you are treated like family and cared for.
Just returned home from a wonderful trip where we stayed 4 nights at Turkey Creek Campground. The owner was very accommodating and was available to answer all of my questions prior to our arrival. When we arrived we quickly checked in and got to our campsites. Everything was well laid out and extremely well maintained. Trash and recycling containers at each site. It was quiet and the other campers very friendly. Restrooms were clean and there was easy access to ice and firewood. We enjoyed playing games on the patio one day. The NOC is close by so I recommend checking that out! The walk to the lake is not an easy stroll but was pretty and peaceful. We had hoped to go for a swim but the lake was too low and we didn't see an easy way in. The owner went above and beyond when we couldn't get our vehicle to start when we were packed and ready to go by helping us with a battery jump! We will definitely be back!…
I could easily swipe, copy, and paste these previous reviews. This is a rarity few will find. There are sanitizing bottles and wiping rags in all the public facilities, water at each site, electric provided at most, fire rings, sturdy tables, laundry facilities, trash is regularly picked up and they even have recycling tubs at each site. But the best is the hot waterfall showerheads in the baths, an unbelievable feeling after setting up your site. Yes, you need to read and agree to the terms and conditions on the website but it simply means be a nice neighbor and respectful of the beautiful surrounding nature. You'll learn what Nantahala means when you look up from this pristine location. It is apparent this campground has been a labor of love for the campground host, someone who exemplifies true Southern Hospitality. I will return.…
Great tent camping location. Our spot was secluded and near a creek with amazing sounds. Camp host was very helpful and accommodating. Bathrooms and showers were easily accessible and very clean. The location is perfect with easy access to the GSM and NOC. Definitely will go there again!
I stayed one night as a solo traveler at Turkey Creek campground and thoroughly enjoyed my experience. My site was adjacent to a small babbling brook which soothingly lulled me to sleep, the bathrooms were spacious and clean, and the office staff was extremely friendly and helpful. I even got enough cell service at camp on my Verizon phone to pull up maps and coordinate plans. There's a small path through the woods that leads to railroad tracks and a view of the lake, and it's only a few minutes drive to get to the put-in spots for paddling or kayaking. Would stay again and recommend. :)
We were really excited to have found Turkey Creek Campground recently. The owner was very helpful, made sure Covid protections were in place, and helped us choose a perfect site. The Campground provides both firewood and ice at a reasonable rate so you don’t have to drive to get them. There is a nice walking path that leads to the lake. It was great hearing the creek run at night and listening to the birds chirping. The restroom/shower facility was very nice and kept very clean. The deck is open for use by campers and was a wonderful relaxing place to sit in a rocking chair and enjoy the gentle breeze. We would definitely recommend Turkey Creek Campground!
Scenic, conveniently located, clean and family friendly. We love the sound of the brook and the the birds. This campground is highly recommended. It is well cared for and kept clean. Close to Tsali, NOC, Bryson city and Fontana. Year after year, this place doesn’t disappoint.
If you want to camp but are concerned about getting Covid-19 this is the place to camp in North Carolina. Bath house set up to protect people, masks required in public areas and campers being socially distance responsible. Clean buildings, shady campsites and quiet location. Thank you to the people operating this camp ground. We had a great week.
Beautiful little piece of land tucked into a wooded nest. There is a mile or so hiking trail with lovely lake views right off the campground. The trail is way too steep to try to get lake access from there but it is a wonderful walk through the woods. The showers and toilets are exceptionally clean and there is a strict rule system in place for Covid precautions. You can purchase ice and firewood on the grounds but the camp store does not have much merchandise because of Covid. There is Wi-Fi at the camp store area which has a nice deck where you can get some work done if necessary. (WiFi reception is spotty at the actual sites.) When we arrived, someone was actually set up on our assigned site so we moved to the next site, but that site’s 30 amp was not working properly so at long last the owner lent us a converter for a 50 amp site which was very nice of her. (We we worried we were going to have to go back home because she said the campground was booked!) Also, she mentioned this is not really an RV park because there are so few hookups and the access road is very narrow and winding, But if you can get in it’s a really great location, it’s clean, and it’s well appointed. This campground is close to Tsali biking, Deep Creek biking/tubing, Bryson City restaurants, as well as fun on Lake Fontana. The only drawback is there is not much privacy between sites, although it is very charming, and the other campers are very friendly and respectful. Also be sure to follow the rules when you are there, including prompt check in and check out time as I mistakingly thought checkout time was noon and it was actually 11. …
