Sofitel Philippine Plaza Manila captivates guests with its festive atmosphere, complete with live music and elegant decor, although there's a call for room updates. The hotel's prime location near the airport and local attractions is appreciated, but some find it slightly isolated. While the rooms are praised for their cleanliness, they are often noted as in need of renovation. Despite some noise issues, the luxurious amenities and exceptional service stand out, with the breakfast buffet and spa earning accolades. However, concerns about value for money and pricing are expressed by many travelers.

Recently stayed at the Sofitel Manila and enjoyed it immensely. Upgraded to a suite due to accor status and it was huge and spacious. Breakfast was buffet with plenty of variety and be early on weekends. Eating venues are very busy Fri, Sat,Sun, so book a table if eating. Accor Club lounge runs from 2 til 7pm and your well looked after by Friliene and Anthony. Snaps Sports Bar is another must visit. Really nice food, well priced drinks and great service by Paul, JP and the others. Pool and surrounds are beautiful. Top of the list is the 6 star Filipino customer service. The best ever. A wonderful place to stay and Accor discounts apply for dining and drinks.

In my opinion, Sofitel Manila is a three-star plus hotel, not a five star hotel. My primary complaint is the ADVERSARIAL TONE the hotel staff has towards its guest. Staff acts suspicious of guests, talks down to them, and even scolds them. EXAMPLE #1: My roommate was finishing her breakfast at 10:15 a.m. (buffet closed at 10 am), but meantime some friends had arrived for lunch. The receptionist allowed my friends to to sit with her while my roommate was finishing her breakfast, after which we planned to to another restaurant within the hotel to continue socializing. Regardless, Supervisor Bhey Beltran came flying to our table and in front of four other women scolded me and falsely accused me of "sharing" buffet food with others. We were all embarrassed. I explained the situation to him and also discussed this episode with other supervisors who said Mr. Beltran was out-of-line since buffet closed at 10 am and my friends were not "stealing" their buffet. EXAMPLE #2: There were around 20 of us having a nightcap at Snaps Bar. To accompany our overpriced drinks the waiter gave us one small bowl of peanuts, and we requested for more for our large group. It took him forever to comply. FURTHER, room cleanup was shoddy and I had to complain so housekeeping would provide clean towels, amenities, drinking water, etc. I told the supervisors that people come to a five-star hotel to feel nice and special and be treated well, certainly not to be scolded and talked down to and made to feel embarrassed. Sofitel staff needs to be nicer and more accommodating to their guests.

They should refurbish this place completely or change the name to something else that would reflect the low standards of the place. My room had wet rotten smell because of the old carpets, the useless wood panels on the walls were dented, shabby and dirty. Some lights in the room had broken switches, the desk was falling apart. The beds were like cots. I am serious. Tiny and hard folding beds. The elevators is a separate story. Only 2/6 were functioning. We couldn't get downstairs for 15 minutes because 2 functioning elevators were arriving fully packed. The access to the stairs was locked. we had to take service elevator to get down. In the service elevator we met some ill looking Swiss or Austrian manager and when we shared our concerns about the elevators, the reaction was like "mind your own business". He also told us that the stairs can be unlocked only in case of fire, amazing. When we tried to use service elevator for the 2nd time because of the same issue with the guest elevators, another manager threatened to call security on us. Sweet... New standards of HOSPITALITY, I guess imported from Europe where 5* hotels after COVID turned into shelters, not literally but still. You get "stay" but HOSPITALITY part is no longer included. Previous time in Manila I stayed at a better hotel for less money, they know which one. They should go there and see what HOSPITALITY and comfort is all about.

We had a great stay at Sofitel. Kids loved the pool. We had a suite room so included the club lounge. Sadly, I wasn’t able to utilize this as kids are not allowed and I had 2 children with me. Kids were happy and satisfied with the room. We ate at Spirals for dinner and breakfast and there was a wide selection. My main complaints would be the elevator as 3/6 of were down leading to long wait times and long lines at times. Also, key card seemed to not be activated properly as I had several issues with them. All in all, would stay here again with the kids.

I have waited a few weeks before writing this review as we are travelling around Asia & I wanted to see if my poor experience was normal here. However thankfully I have discovered that it is not! I am allergic to feathers & asked for non feather bedding. The hotel changed the pillows but told me they did not have any non feather duvets! Their answer was to give me a very thin blanket in a quilt cover instead! Not something I expect from a 5 star hotel. I even raised this with a manager who acted as though I was the only one who had ever asked for a non feather duvet but if you are allergic to feather pillows you are also allergic to feather duvets as well! Everywhere else we have been I have been provided with Non feather bedding! Along with other reviews I would also say they have long check in times, tired furniture & would not recommend this hotel. The concierge are the exception & are excellent!
