we traveled in 2019. the place is now shut down i suppose (in 2021) we had an enjoyable time with the whole family in august 2019 when we celebrated our dad's 75th birthday. The creole buffet was wonderful. The restaurants were quite good. And the beach beside the hotel was superb
We really have a good time here with my husband, the place is so amazing relaxing you, the staff are very attentive and professional, the room is clean and nice view from the beach! the room with balcony the bed the toilet is all perfect! the breakfast is amazing and tasty! you can have your breakfast next to the beach! all is perfect!
Me any my wife stayed at Avani on our honeymoon back in November 2018. I booked it literally on the last possible day and had some trepidations as it was our first stop on the route but everything turned out great! It is a VERY beautiful place, especially the private beach, which is windy and not really swimmable in November but just as pretty and scenic! Communication in advance was lacking, especially regarding transport but that was my own fault for doing everything in the last minute. On arrival we were greeted by an immensly helpful and kind member of staff whose name unfortunately I don't remember but he was from I believe Mali or Ghana. I'm sad I haven't taken a note of this as I have rarely seen such impeccable and kind service, even for Seychelles standards (which are really high!) and this wonderful man really deserves a raise for his efforts. The hotel itself is just a tad old-fashioned in looks but the rooms are amazing, spacious, full of light and opening up to a great courtyard with a pool. The restaurant (Tamarind) was also a jewel, not super expensive but availng of all landmark local dishes and with a kind Asian staff. Grand Anse is in general a pretty good place to stay on Mahe, as it is not the most popular stretch by far, but there are amazing beaches within close reach to the south and if you're not able or willing to splurge for the (otherwise amazing looking) Hilton, Kempinski or Ephelia, etc, Avani is a really great option. Sunset views are also one of a kind!…
I feel there is not enough stars to rate the wonderful experience we had at Avani. The service was excellent, out of this world. We have never felt this spoiled and well taken care of. All the facilities were in good working order and the food was tasty. The view was amazing being right on the beach especially with breakfast and the buffet was great. The two kitties wondering around I also enjoyed as I am a huge animal lover and it made it feel more like home. The only thing is there is a lot of mosquitoes so bring some peaceful sleep, which the reception did warn us about beforehand. We definitely recommend this accommodation and to be honest we would even rate them above some of the 5 star hotels we where also at. Thanks again Avani!
The most beautiful experience of our lives.Nice, helpful and attentive staff.💙 Clean and nice room. the food is more special. Everything is perfect. The country is also surprisingly positive.😍 🥰🥰🥰
It’s very difficult to find a fault! We stayed here for three nights in March, just before the virus crisis caused travel restrictions. My husband had booked the trip as a surprise and well in advance of our arrival, the staff had been very helpful in setting things up. While we were there, we found the staff to be friendly and helpful almost without exception. Our Ocean View Suite was huge, clean and comfortable. The ocean view itself is through foliage, but it’s a very short walk to the ocean. All the food was excellent. We ate in the Tamarind and stayed for hours after the meal, drinking our wine sat in the sag bags in the sand. We ate at the buffet one evening and also did the beachside private dining, surrounded by a heart-shaped lighting ring. Every meal was great. We were lucky enough to get seats on the outside decking of the main restaurant/bar area on six out of our seven attempts (the buffet, three drinks and two breakfasts). Try for this if you can - the view over the beach is perfect. Great cocktail menu and plenty of wine choices. Not a huge beer choice, but cold lager was fine in the 30 degree plus heat. We loved Barbarons beach and walked it end to end every day. It’s not a beach for swimming (at least not when you swim like us!), but really interesting, with lots of coral and shells washed up and a backdrop of varying greenery. There is a small area roped of for swimming at the rocky end of the beach - look out for the rope swing! We were surprised how quiet the beach was. We both felt that the location was a little bit of paradise and were sorry to leave. We hired a car to get around, which was well worth it. While the island is small, the roads mean that it takes longer than you expect to get from a to b. We drove around most of the island. For us aside from Barbarons our favourite beaches were Cap Ternay, Intendance Bay, Carana, Port Laney and especially Police Bay. Highly recommend this place to stay.…
We had a two nights stay. It was a nice stay and wonderful experience but on our first day we noticed the hotel manager being very rude towards a client and the next day it was towards a young foreign staff in an open area. Spoiled our mood a bit.
We had a one night stay in a beach room. It was a lovely resort, very beautiful. The staff was extremely helpful and we had lovely drinks on the beach the evening. The rooms are spacious, however the bathroom was a bit odd. Breakfast was lovely and we cannot fault them on service. The swimming beach is very small however and I think it is worth a mention.
We spent 11 nights recently at the Avani and had a wonderful time. We had an ocean view room which was very comfortable and the best bed I've slept in for a long time. The staff was so helpful and personable, always doing their best, nothing was too much trouble. We are missing Joanne's wonderful eggs in the morning- she always remembered who had ordered what, and always with a smile. The bar service was great with Thushan inventing different cocktails for me! We would happily return, a very relaxing stay.
The Avani is situated right on the edge of a lovely sweeping beach unfortunately only a small portion of the bay, to the right of the hotel is good for swimming and snorkelling. The facility while comfortable and well maintained, looks tired in places. The staff really make the Avani, always friendly and eager to ensure you are enjoying your stay. Janette always had a smile and a cheery welcome at breakfast, Waseem and Hari waited on your every need at meal times and Dams will ensure you always have the right drink at the table. Hats off to Joanne for effortlessly coping with all the egg orders, always smiling and never getting mixed up with who she was cooking for. Food has a distinctive Indian and Creole edge which may not be to everyones liking but the main restaurant is buffet meaning that everyone should be able to find something to their liking. Of the two alternative restaurants (surcharges apply) the pan asian Tamarind Thai has the better choice but service can be very erratic (from very attentive to extremely slow) The newly opened Terrace offers Fish or Meat 5 course banquets and the quality of food/cooking on both are excellent. The location on the roof of the main building, gives lovely views over the bay but take a torch if you have the fish banquet so that you can see the bones, in the romantic mood setting. Overall a very enjoyable stay.…
