I couldn’t compliment this place enough! The resort, rooms, food, staff everything was just amazing! We stayed in the sunset water villa and also celebrated our birthdays here and the staff went above and beyond! They couldn’t be any nicer! The place is magical! Would recommend the tours also the turtle quest was amazing.
We spent seven glorious days in this beautiful island where the care and attention by the staff was fantastic. We stayed at one of the sunset water villas, where we were greeted every morning by the most pristine blue water filled with a great, variety of marine wildlife, at the end of the evening stunning sunsets. The best massage we received at their spa. The food was varied and delicious. But it was the warmth of the staff that won our hearts. Perfect place to renew your batteries!
This is as our first all inclusive holiday and the bar has definitely been set very high! We couldn’t have asked for a better experience. After having the wedding of our dreams postponed and settling for a registry office just so we could get married, we were feeling rather deflated. Having our honeymoon booked in the Maldives really was something we looked forward to and counted down the days. Before we arrived, the reception team were so helpful and in regular contact with us, making sure we knew everything we needed to do before arrival (covid paperwork and pcr tests to name but a few!). Pat was very informative and helpful before and during our time in the Maldives and we will definitely contact her again if we stay at another Centara resort - which we are definitely planning to do! Our arrival in a nutshell included drums, welcome banners, smiling staff, refreshing mojitos and breath taking views. Every single member of staff was super friendly and made us feel so special from the moment we arrived up until when we left. The little touches made such a difference, such as champagne and chocolates in the room when we arrived, regular messages on our bed made from flowers and reeds, having my hair braided when we visited the spa, having our regular drinks brought to us on the beach, pool and vie bar without having to ask. It was all the small things that made this trip so wonderful. Some of our highlights include watching the reef sharks being fed on the jetty each day, swimming with a turtle that we spotted on our walk back to the villa on evening, watching a pod of dolphins in the morning, spotting several sting rays whilst snorkelling, enjoying the beautiful sunsets from our hot tub on our villa deck and of course the food and drink! We also thoroughly enjoyed watching the traditional Maldivian drumming, partaking in the coral planting and restoration and the Thai dancing and karate on our last night. I am gluten intolerant and this usually causes issues when we eat abroad and limits the options I can have. However Centara catered to my every need and there was a vast choice of cuisine! The chef always accommodated me to make sure that I had a suitable alternative or made me a specialist dish. We could communicate with the staff through WhatsApp which made everything super easy and quick. The menus were also all online and could be accessed by scanning a QR code. It was very simple and easy to use. Our villa was towards the end of the jetty but that just meant we could get some exercise in and walk off some of the calories we were consuming all day long! And it gave us lots of privacy. On our last night we ordered the seafood platter (which is extra) and the restaurant staff gave us the best surprise by setting up a private table under the marquee at the end of a small jetty. We had our own waiter, champagne, romantic lights that changed colour and of course, the most delicious and fresh seafood! Another highlight for us. The resort has a 5-star spa onsite and we made the most these facilities by getting a foot massage the day after we arrived (which we could use our complimentary spa voucher towards) and also a couples aromatherapy massage towards the end of our stay. The whole experience is extremely therapeutic from start to finish, so much so that my husband almost fell asleep during the treatment and I had to keep checking his deep breathing wasn’t snoring! After the massage, we were treated to ginger tea and herb filled heat packs on a relaxing couples swing in the gardens which was incredibly relaxing. There was a Russian film crew there for a few days who were filming part of a series. We were informed of their arrival and the staff ensured that they did not affect our stay in any way. In fact, when we were waiting for the coral planting and chatting to some of the staff about the turtles laying their eggs on the beach, the film crew asked if they could do a really quick interview with us. Again, there was no pressure and we were super happy to do it. The Covid safety and hygiene was brilliant throughout our stay. All staff wore masks the entire time and there were hand sanitiser stations regularly dotted around the island. Our temperature was checked every morning before breakfast, and if it was a little high from the walk and heat, they checked it again after breakfast. All common areas were regularly cleaned and sanitised. The loungers had ‘clean and serene’ head cushions on which indicated whether they were sanitised and useable. The same applied to tables and lounging areas across the island. We felt very safe and unworried whilst there. Every staff member went above and beyond for us, no matter the request. There are several staff we would like to individually name but for fear of missing someone out we will refrain - they were all excellent after all anyway. A few examples of this is that my husband injured his ankle playing football the weekend before we arrived at the resort and so it was swollen at the start of the stay. They regularly brought us a bag of ice during our stay to reduce the swelling. On another occasion, when we were sitting in the pool bar chatting to the barman, Sam, we asked him to surprise us with a drink based on the kinds of flavours we liked and he did not disappoint! We drank a ‘Sam Special’ from that day on… except for when we were in the view bar and Dinesh made the best Pina coladas! It was a once in a lifetime trip with incredible service, up until the moment we had to leave and were waved goodbye by the management team as we left on the speed boat back to the airport. I could not recommend a holiday to the Maldives anymore, and especially to Centara which is fantastic value for money and provides a truly unforgettable experience. I will be treasuring our memories and the photographs for years to come.…
