I stayed 3 weeks in this friendly little guesthouse tucked away on a side street but easy walking distance to food options and shopping. They have 3 rooms upstairs and I was in # 3 with a comfy queen bed ceiling fan and quiet a.c. The living room has a large flatscreen tv with cable and plenty of seating including a nice couch as well as a large fridge stocked with water. The bathrooms are just outside the salon and are separated by a small kitchen with a microwave. I was very much at home and enjoyed my time at Sarang!

Sarang Rooms is in a quiet, local neighborhood close to the Bukit Bintang area. The Puduraya bus station, and Jalan Alor food street, is in short walking distance, so the location is really convenient. The monorail is around 5 minutes, it's easy to get to the City Center. But you can walk all the way to KLCC, partly on a covered walkway and through shopping malls, in 15-20 minutes. Christina or Anita will give you direction and great tips about food, shopping and sightseeing. They are really kind, and helpful. The accommodation was clean and comfortable. Design wise it's not a boutique hotel, more like a Malay home. There are two shared bathrooms for the 3 bedrooms. The breakfast is brought in from street vendors and you can prepare tea and coffee in the kitchen. We went with Christina to the wet market tour in the morning. It was informative, and we had great street food, some we would never dare to try alone. We enjoyed it very much and recommend to everybody interested in local food.

Planned to explore Malaysia and came to regard Sarang Rooms as our Base Camp. We left our excess baggage and laundry here while we went off to Langkawi, Cameron Highlands, Melaka and Singapore. Each time we returned it was like coming home to to family. Michael and Christina took us out for breakfast in Little India on our first morning, giving us the courage to try more similar restaurants later on our trip. Anita looked after us the rest of the time, giving us really helpful advice, hints and tips on travel, restaurants and things to do. Best tip - take Tea and Cake in the revolving restaurant at the top of the Menara Tower (15.30-17.30hrs) it's only about RM10 more than paying for the Observation Deck which you can visit after anyway...it will be the best value tea and cake you will ever have...sandwiches, spring rolls, and lots more too ! It was like renting a 3 bedroom house and only paying for the bedroom..So nice to have the use of 2 bathrooms, kitchen, and lounge. Cant cook in the kitchen, only microwave but why would you cook when surrounded by a million eateries. We are very grateful for the care and hospitality we received here, Thank you.

A fantastic guesthouse in Kuala Lumpur, with outstanding hosts Michael & Christina and staff Anita & Teri. Although in very easy walking distance to Bukit Bintang, the rooms are located in a very quiet and calm area (behind the Swiss Garden hotel). The quaint guesthouse inside an established home has modern conveniences including free wi-fi and the rooms are comfortable. The bathroom/toilet is shared but completely adequate and clean. The service is great including cleaning and laundry, and two outstanding benefits are Michael & Christina's local knowledge (what they don't know about local food isn't worth knowing!), as well as meeting other guests from around the world which is always really interesting.

I travelled alone to Malaysia to attend the Sepang MotoGP. When I travel alone I prefer to stay somewhere more personal than a large hotel and Sarang fitted the bill perfectly. Anita the hostess is very welcoming and couldn't be more helpful with suggestions for places to eat and information for trips out. For the 1st 3 days I took traditional breakfasts, these generally comprised rice, chicken, chilli sauce, curry sauce. Also had a breakfast of chicken noodles. These were very filling and certainly set me up for long days. The rooms are spotless, comfortable and simply furnished. The air conditioning is a god send and works very well. Shared bathrooms are spotless and bottles of water are left in the fridge each day for guests. I certainly wish I had had more time to stay and avail of the hospitality and explore KL more but not this time unfortunately. If I get another chance I will certainly stay here. For those people who like lavishly furnished rooms with TVs that have 100s of channels, this is not the place for you. If like me, you want to have a slice of local life and customs, even only for a few days, then this is the place to go.
