The Ritz Carlton Osaka is a fantastic property with a superb team! My wife and I have stayed about almost 1,600 nights at Marriott’s mostly at Ritz’s and St. Regis’s and this is one of our favorite stays ever. The hotel itself is quite classy and elegant. The rooms are beautifully decorated and furnished. The club lounge is well designed. They serve incredible food across the best selection of hotel restaurants of any property we have ever stayed. Ms. Carol and the entire team are so friendly. Mr. William and the concierge team are very helpful with planning. What makes this one of the best hotels though is the remarkable people and the top notch service. The associates from top to bottom are all amazing. Everyone is so friendly, proactive, responsive, and excellent at what they do. Every department from the bellhops, concierge, club lounge team, housekeeping, restaurant teams, and management provide impeccable service. One of the best Ritz Carlton associates ever is at this property, Mr. Finch, and has been a tremendous help in every way to us. He is the loyalty manager and could not be more helpful, more charismatic, or funny. Not only was Mr. Finch extremely helpful with our stay here he was very helpful with our stays in other cities as well. One of the best GM’s ever leads this incredible team in Mr. Neukomm. He is diligent, responsive, engaging, and clearly a great leader. After staying well over a thousand nights at luxury properties, you soon learn that it is very difficult for hotels to excel at everything. Usually there is an area or two where even the best hotels have some challenges for various reasons. This hotel truly excels at everything and the coordination and communication across all departments in unparalleled. For example, we decided to check in two days early with only an hour or so notice and the team holistically greeted us as if they had prepped for a couple days. Anyone visiting Osaka who wants to stay at a luxury hotel would be making a huge mistake if they did not stay at this brilliantly exquisite property!

The BonVoy program disappointed again - with all its exclusions and fine prints one ends up with no perks at all no matter the Platinum and above status. This is not new, yet the attitude of management in Osaka would certainly not make up for a stay that felt like a wasted opportunity to relax, and that will certainly not be renewed in the future. It is advisable to build membership with other brands.

Of the three Ritz-Carlton properties I experienced on my most recent trip to Japan, the Ritz-Carlton Osaka provided friendly service. It gave me the impression that I was in both Ritz-Carlton, St. Louis, and Central Park locations at the same time as soon as I came into the hotel. A friendly welcome by all Ladies and Gentlemen, especially Simon, truly made my day. I stayed in a Club Executive Suite, and it was worth it. The suite is around 820 sq. ft. and provides all the comforts with great views. In addition, the bed and bathrooms were spacious, with different unique details found in each area. In addition, the Club Level provides a buffet-style atmosphere, and people enjoy it to the fullest. Most importantly, food presentations around 05:30 pm can be pretty hectic, but the Ladies and Gentlemen go above and beyond to make you feel extra special. The overall property is like a fairy tale, but I enjoyed going to the spa and using some spa facilities. Some areas within the spa would benefit from a renovation, but most are in great shape and provide great comfort. The guest attendants were exceptionally friendly, and Motoi was a great person to talk to during my first visit to the spa. He invested in his job and tried to make sure everyone was content. Special thanks to Deguchi-san, Simon, Abe-san, and Mochizuki-san. All of them were more than attentive and went above and beyond. I appreciated the gesture from Mark and everyone else that was attentive and willing to consider guests' needs during their stay. Great location overall!

The hotel is very closely located to Umeda and Osaka Station which made it very easy for us to grt around; particularly from Shin-Osaka and To Universal city. There’s a nice shopping area nearby and the area is generally nice and calm as opposed to central Osaka - Dotonburi. The concierge was super helpful in helping us arrange a cab to the airport and storing our luggage as out flight was delayed. We also got a really nice upgrade which elevated our stay- thank you for this! The breakfast was really nice and the staff at the buffet were super nice and considerate to show us food which we could and couldn’t eat due to dietary restrictions. My only comment would be is that at check in they could be a little nicer. This was the only hotel in Japan which made it a struggle for us to checkout past 4pm but it was still manageable. All in all, great hospitality, great location, superb rooms. Definitely recommended and would definitely be back here again!

The hotel is situated close to the station and shopping area. The staff are very friendly and helpful. The rooms are spacious with all the facilities and amenities you need. Depending on which room you are in the views are not great, you can just make out the river amongst the skyscrapers. The bars are a little hit and miss, either not open or closes at 21.30. The breakfast and dining area is not large and a couple of mornings we had to queue and wait up to 10 minutes before getting a table. The breakfast itself was ok, minimal amount of fruit available and only a very small toaster that you nearly always had to queue to use, this is the reason why I have not scored it excellent. Beneath the hotel there are a number of restaurants and shops, we ate down there on two evenings and found them excellent.

Best location at umeda and connected to Osaka station and umeda station, and within the underground network connected to the big department stores, so unaffected by rain and the hot summer months. Stayed in the Junior Suite high floor. Generous space. Air purifier and humidifier already running when I entered the room, that’s a plus in Post Covid times. Needs some updating with the wiring (c type should now be replacing usb). Their concierge team is a gem. No hassle with booking the top Michelin restaurants in Osaka and Kyoto with a few months advanced notice. Also managed to get some bookings for afternoon tea at a cafe that normally allow walk in only. And above all, pushing the extra mile and help bookings for my onward journey to Kyoto. My hotel of choice in Osaka

Exquisite flower arrangements, beautiful marble and fine woodwork - this is what you encounter upon entering the lobby! The staff is very fluent in English and take you to your gorgeous room to show you the ins and outs. The breakfast buffet is delicious! Also, the lounge served me the best martini I’ve ever had. GM Simon was a constant friendly presence. Motoi and William took us on a 12K run around Osaka Castle Park that we will never forget! Wonderful in every way!

Context & Disclaimer: I'm a very objective travel reviewer as someone who has a fair share of business and leisure stays. I leave reviews to help hotels improve their standards and also to help my fellow travellers make the best travel decisions for themselves. I've stayed at luxury to mid-range properties around the world including recent stays at the Prince Gallery Tokyo, Ritz-Carlton Tokyo, Ritz-Carlton Toronto, JW Marriott Hong Kong. This review also follows a recent stay at the Prince Gallery Tokyo where the standards were exceptionally high. I haven't reviewed them yet but will do so shortly. Japan is known for its warm hospitality and careful attention to detail. At high-end hotels, they go over the top particularly to make your experience a unique one, so when you're paying $700+/night for the Ritz you expect high standards. Especially when every luxury hotelier in Tokyo has said the RC Osaka was just recently awarded its 5* My guest journey starts off rocky and torpedoes downhill. Check-In 1 - it's been raining in Osaka all day and we walked into the hotel from the outside. No one to greet us or take our luggage. Not a single person to be found. 2 - I'm soaking wet and struggling to find the check-in lobby. I must've seen 3 staff members look at me and not offer help or ask if I need any assistance. 3 - I finally find the check-in lobby where it's a giant zoo and RC staff directing traffic like its 5pm at Shibuya crossing. An absolute loud mess. I'm still soaking wet with my glasses and both pieces of luggage, and a staff member asks me if I'm checking in or checking out. What??? 0 attention to detail right there. Anyway, she directs me to wait in line. 4 - At the RC Tokyo & Prince Gallery Tokyo and any luxury hotel that operates like one (e.g., Four Seasons), takes your luggage and ask for your name. By the time you make it to check-in, they greet you by name and help you get settled in. If you book a room on the club floor, they ask if you'd like to check-in there privately. Yes I booked a Club Room, and so I waited about 10 minutes dripping wet before asking someone if I could please check-in via the Club Lounge. 5 - We're making our way to the Club Lounge, with the attendant dragging our luggage along the way which makes lots of noise. 6 - Finally check-in with no problems. The Room 7 - I understand that this is a Victorian-style property and some of the room and structure might be dated. But I can't believe that the bathtub is something from a Residence Inn or Courtyard Marriott. The shower is equally not up to par with the RC brand. 8 - Toiletries. I'm not sure if this is RC making a push for sustainability, but soap, shampoo, and conditioner are given to guests in large bottle format, again like at a Residence Inn or Courtyard Marriott, instead of small individual bottles. Not a big deal, but just not up to par with other luxury hotels or RC standards across Japan. What if someone spit in there? Back to the lounge 9 - I didn't realize the Club Lounge was a restaurant. Again, might just be me, but the Club Lounge is a place for relaxation and wind down in a tranquil environment. If I wanted a loud ambiance, I would've gone to an Izakaya. 10 - Re: attentiveness, as I'm writing this review, my empty and dirty dishes have been here for about 30 minutes. 11 - Small little details but what's with serving tea in a bone china cup and a plastic tray? There's a saying in Japan as I was told "Not making the guest repeat themselves." This has only been 3 hours into the 5-night stay, let's see how it unfolds.

Dear William C sama, Thank you for taking the time to share your thoughts regarding your arrival experience. I appreciate you bringing it to our attention. First and foremost, we would like to apologize for your arrival experience. Here at The Ritz-Carlton, Osaka we commit to provide genuine care and the finest personal service for our guests, and the anticipation of our guests' needs, it seems we have fallen short this time. From the moment you walked through our doors someone should have been there to not only offer assistance but perhaps a towel and a swift escort to the Club level. I have shared and of course elevated your message with our leadership team to make sure there will be no reoccurrence of the kind of events that happened upon your arrival. Thank you very much again for your gift of feedback. Sincerely, Miki Sato Director of Quality The Ritz-Carlton, Osaka

Just a great experience in every regard. Our room was high grade with a wonderful view of the city. Linen and furnishings are excellent. Staff couldn’t be nicer and more helpful. The gym is high grade and the pool is huge with a hot tub. There are three very, very good restaurants. Prices are up there but in this case you get what you pay for. And a special shout out to Simon Finch, relationship manager. He meet us at the door and while we waited for our room gave us a tour of the facility. He always seem to be there when we had a question or needed assistance. Because of our experience here together with Simon’s attention I’m officially switching allegiance from Hyatt to the Ritz.

We stayed at the Japanese suite. It was roomy and comfortable. Every evening, 3-4 housekeeping would come in to make the 5 futon beds for us. They were very efficient and a joy too watch. Big shout out to Ayumi from Splendid-O. She went to ask the chef about each breakfast option and what were the ingredients. This helped us to choose halal food. She even arranged for hash browns to be fried in new vege oil so that it's not mixed with the oil frying the sausages. So happy to meet such a sweet, transparent lady.
