The rooms of this hotel were very tiny even for small size adult. The location of this hotel was good, about 5 minutes on walk from the Shin Osaka station of JR. The breakfast (not free) was cheap considering its quality.

The rooms we had were tiny, which is fine if there's only one person, or just for one night, but the couples in our group struggled with space. Very close to the station, but difficult to get to, the only elevators down from the station are a long walk away, closest way to get there is down 3 flights of... More

If you only need a place to sleep at a convenient location then this is the place, although the rate we paid wasn't too great perhaps because of the peak season. It's literally a two minute walk from the east exit of Shin Osaka station. Other reviewers warned that it's hard to find and it was, especially because they gave... More

Staff were very friendly, complete shoebox but cheapest we could find in the area we wanted. They warn you to not leave anything valuable but we still left headphones, chargers and bags - but the items stolen were harry potter merchandise. Someone went into our bag to take it but took nothing else... they do provide all necessities for free... More

I have traveled Japan so many times, and have stayed in many different class hotels, but have never encountered one as bad as this. First of all it was hard to locate from the east exit of the station, due to poor signage. If you get in the correct direction when you get out of the station, it takes 5... More

This is my 3rd trip to Japan so I am well-aware of the tiny hotel rooms and I am ok with them. At Step-inn, not only are the rooms small, they are not well-appointed and you really feel that you're in a budget hotel. The rooms can use a little updating. Maybe change the desk (very small) or scrub the... More

A five minute walk to Shin-Osaka station; very convenient for us because we were on the move most of the time. The Shin-Osaka station also has a lot of restaurants and the best Takoyaki. The hotel is also near a family mart. Staff were helpful. Our only complaint was the cleanliness. The first room given to us had an unpleasant... More

The hotel is located behind Shin-Osaka Station (same block get out through the east exit and keep turning right at each intersection with a road) so it is quite some distance away from downtown Osaka. But if you have a rail pass, you should be able to get around easily as Shin-Osaka Station is just one station away from the... More

If you are going to get a JR pass and fly around the cities and head back to a central location (Osaka) for sleep, this is the place (instead of Umeda / Osaka station where you need another change of subway / JR). I was not having JR pass when I stayed, but we spent 4 nights at this hotel... More

Very small room, though clean and comfortable and we got a good nights sleep. Reception staff helpful and spoke pretty good English. No breakfast included (though available at extra cost). We wanted to make a phone call to book a walking tour for our next day in Nara - but no telephone in the room. We went to reception and... More
