If you are looking for an authentic Japanese experience without breaking your wallet. This is it! For a Roykan, this is very reasonable price. This is a 100 year old ryokan with 6 generation of history. Yes, it's a little old but with all the basic amenities. They even have WIFI in the room while some other hotels in Japan... More

Perfect position as 5 minutes from Zenkoji-ji Temple. The room and bathroom were perfect although bathroom was small for Aussies but this is Japan. We loved everything about this place. The grandfather, the service, the food and the free coffee. We even loved the street. Great onsen. Lots of history here!!!

Small traditional Japanese Hotel hardly any distance from the Zenkoji temple – the main tourist attraction in Nagano – so very well located for tourists. Staff are helpful and have some English. The traditional room we stayed in was of a reasonable size with good ensuite facilities. Very nice traditional Japanese breakfast. Good value for money.

This is a fabulous ryokan inside the temple grounds. It is absolutely beautiful at night when everyone has gone home! Wondering up to the temple at night was just magical. The staff are wonderful and always wanting help (even the older couple with limited English - my problem , not theirs) went out of their way to assist. They sent... More

This ryokan is located inside the gates of the Zenkoji Temple. Since I intended to attend the early morning ceremony (at 6:40 am), this was very convenient. The Ryokan is also located in a historic site where the original temple was located. I reserved a room with a private bath. The room is very large and clean. The bedding is... More

We loved everything about this ryokan. We were lucky enough to arrive in the evening during a festival of lights - where the whole area around the temple was closed to traffic and hundreds of locals were strolling up to the temple, all the streets were lit with lanterns and full of food stalls. It was a lovely atmosphere. You... More

This is a great ryokan, within steps of Zenko-ji Temple. It was a comfortable tatami room. Realize that you will be sleeping and sitting on the floor, Japanese style. It serves a wonderful breakfast. They also have dinner, but I did not have it. The staff is very welcoming and friendly.

I stayed here for 2 nights with my husband and 13 year old son, in a traditional tatami room. We took the bus from the #1 bus bay at Nagano Station. It is situated just outside the second gate of Zenkoji Temple amongst many little shops. This ryokan is a bit of a maze inside, with rooms around every corner.... More

Our Japanese style room is spacious with ensuite shower and toilet. Sink, shower and toilet are seperated in the front part of the room. The onsen is nice and clean. Our 3 and 4 years old children love it. As I wrote in my blog We choose to take taxi instead of bus as it is not far and we... More

I am writing this review and we haven't even left and I don't want to. Having dinner here is a must your own private dinning room and the most wonderful food. The staff are outstanding the rooms traditional and we had our first onsen experience. This Ryokan is a definite must for those visiting Nagano only wish we stayed longer.
