Lets not talk about the japanese hospitality as you may have known how good it is even though there might be language barrier. So this is no exception.

The best thing about this place is the location where you can literally hop on to the bus or train to get to your destination without having to make numerous transfers as it is directly connected to the main train and bus station.

Despite it's strategic location, i was quite surprised the nightly charges are relatively cheap by japanese standard and the breakfast spread is good too. Love to be back here if i got the chance to visit Nagano again.

This is a hotel that offers a level of luxury and yet, booking early through Expedia and booking.com we were able to get queen rooms for two for about A$160 including breakfast. And the breakfast buffet is very good with both Western and Japanese selections. You can even have cold sake or ice cream!
We used the hotel both on the way to and from the ski fields. It is adjacent to the train station and can be accessed internally from the station via the Midori shops. There are signs as you begin to exit the station. Don’t go out the East exit. Reception is open till all hours and we were able to check in at midnight having come via train from Narita airport. ( At this hour you can not access internally but exit the station and the hotel is only a few steps away.) The room is a reasonable size by Japanese standards. I was able to stand my ski bag up in the coat cupboard which was useful. They will also store your large bags overnight if you wish. The bed was comfortable and the room quiet. Check-out is not till midday which allows for a leisurely morning. On our return visit we ate dinner at the hotel; 25,800 yen/ about A$32 each for all we could eat including red and white wine. There was a good selection of meals and desserts including a chocolate fountain. Overall I can highly recommend this hotel for comfort, accessibility, standard of meals and efficient service. While in Nagano, take a walk to the Zenko-ji temple.

Booked a 2 night stay here on Booking.com for a rate of $118 per night. I had booked early and noticed the price went up as it got closer to the date. We stayed December 30 for 2 nights. We arrived via the train from Nagoya at noon. We were not allowed to check in until 3 pm so we stored our bag with them.

We were allocated Room 520 which is a Standard Double but for some reason there was another roll away bed in our room which made the room even more cramped. However, having 2 beds was nice.

Breakfast was not included in our rate but since the hotel is located right at the Nagano Station, finding a place to eat was not hard. We had breakfast one morning at Beck's Coffee.

We visited Nagano for the purpose of seeing the Snow Monkey. Hotel Metropolitan sells the Snow Monkey Pass for 3600 yen. You catch the bus right at the station. This pass also includes the Nagano Dentetsu train which takes you to Zenkoji Temple.

In the room, there were Slippers, pajamas and a safe, There is also a mini fridge. WiFi was complimentary and it was fairly fast.

To access the hotel, you don't need to walk outside if you are arriving by train. You can go through the the mall. Also, there is a very large Don Quijote in the next building and you can walk on a foot bridge.

Overall, the location was great.

A convenient hotel located within the station of Nagano, however, it is not disturbed by the trains. It is a hotel of a certain age and of the “old typical station hotel” style with lots of character. The staff are friendly and helpful.

The hotel is very clean and well organised, as was our room. The room had a king bed that was comfortable with crisp fresh linen. There were adequate C&T facilities, together with complementary bottled water. The bathroom was small and of an older design with a shower over the bath and the “dreaded” plastic bath curtain. There were plenty of complementary toiletries and bathroom it’s you may have forgotten.

The hotel is a great location for visiting the snow monkeys, with the express bus stop (23) accessible through the station at a cost of 1500 yen each way.

It was a comfortable stay and the only issue we experienced was poor Wi-Fi, that kept dropping off and would not reconnect, which became a pain.

For the area, it is a great hotel at a reasonable price

Used this hotel as my base for exploring Nagano prefecture back in August 2023. The hotel provides good enough space for a solo traveller like me, packed with amenities like toothbrush, toothpaste, comb etc. The rooms are clean and bigger in size than the ones in Tokyo. Not sure if its off peak travel during my time, but the hotel was rather quiet.

The location is great, connected to the JR Shinkansen and JR lines, so rain or shine, you are well covered. Also connected to Do Ri Me Shopping Centre, where you can choose to do some shopping.

Seems like lots of restaurants in the shopping centre but didn't have the time to try it. Surrounding area does not seem to have a lot of food choices.

There is a Don Don Donki opposite the hotel and it's connected via the overhead bridge.

I would recommend this hotel.

This three to four star hotel is right next to the train station and that makes it extremely convenient for travellers. The shuttle buses to the various touristic sights that are relatively close by to Nagano ( eg. snow monkeys) also depart from the other side of the train station. So everything is really close by if you stay in this hotel. It is a relatively large hotel and very clean and well kept. We had a standard room facing the railway lines which was quite nice actually and not unsightly. A lot of restaurants close by too as well as a large supermarket right next to it. An excellent choice overall in terms of convenience and comfort.

The hotel is clearly a business hotel and Very close to train station . Easy walking distance undercover. Absolutely No need for a taxi. It is Signposted from the station and has a direct escalator into Mi ro Dori store which is a big department store. With suitcases we found it easier to exit the station and walk to front door of hotel rather than go through the store. Breakfast is served in the coffee shop in main lobby. Breakfast was ok with a good choice. The staff throughout were very helpful. Room is modern with Standard decor and you could be anywhere in world once in the room. Quite impersonal. BBC world at least on TV. The Room was a decent size. The hotel was Quiet though trains can be heard even 9 floors up but these were not disruptive. There are Washing machines available on 3 floors but could not get clothes dry even after 90 minutes in dryer . The dryer was only 100 yen per 30 mins though but easier to dry in room. There are Trouser presses available on each floor by the lifts. They offer the Option of being eco friendly by asking for bedding etc not to be changed daily. Beds comfortable but some might find them to be hard. As ever in Japan Everything is provided that a traveller might need eg razors, brushes etc.
WiFi slow . Good location for walking around Nagano with many restaurants close by. Pleasant stay.

Stayed for one night after an international overnight flight and then a train trip up from Tokyo. The hotel is run by JR East and it right next door to the Nagano Railway Station which is very convenient. The hotel is well presented, very clean and the staff are polite and very efficient. the rooms are reasonable size by Japanese standards( I had a deluxe King room). The room was very clean with a comfortable bed. There are vending machines on the floor and ice machine. I had breakfast the following morning in the ground floor cafe, which was buffet with a mixture of Japanese and Western foods. Breakfast while nothing sensational was good and the automatic coffee machine made a pretty good cappuccino. The hotel is in the centre of town so is convenient. A recommended hotel for the rail traveller.

Comfortable hotel with mid-sized rooms. Breakfast is expensive if it’s not included, but has a very good selection including freshly cooked vegetables and saki. No onsen. There is direct access to the next door train station, handy for bitterly cold winters..

We only stayed one night in Nagano as we wanted to see the snow monkeys. The hotel was convenient as it’s right on the Shinkansen station with internal access from the station. And the station is where we had to catch the bus from to get to the snow monkey park.

The room itself was very comfortable and had all the modern amenities and wifi was very good. There were 4 of us so we booked 2 twin rooms.

Would recommend this for a family travelling to Nagano that are looking for brief yet convenient lodgings.

One thing, this hotel is very strict on the 3pm checkin.

Nozawaonsen is 1 hour 45 minutes each way from Nagano so that's a big chunk of time out of your day if skiing is the holiday objective. Search "5 Best Ski Resorts in Nagano" for other resorts close to Nagano but all will entail travel to and from. If you're set on staying in the ski fields, suggest you stay at a ryokan for a true Japanese stay experience - you can stay in a western style hotel anywhere. Perhaps stay some nights in ski fields to avoid long travel times and a few in Nagano at beginning or end. Take your own lunch of you can to avoid queues in ski fields.

Hi, My group was only adults; however, I believe their deals may give discounts BUT they tend to always come with breakfast (which is charged for each person at around Yen 1700. It will also depend on the number of children. I suggest you do a dummy booking with specific information but do not go to confirmation. You can do this through Tripadvisor.
