This hostel is well located (10 min walk from Kyoto station) and is easy to find. Some restaurants nearby, but not many. The staff were great and very helpful (good level of English), and the breakfast buffet seemed like good value for Japan and offered both Japanese and western options. The hostel is a bit pricey though even for Japan... More

Clean, Cozy, and like everything in Japan so nice, efficent and helpful. Stayed 5 days or something after only booking a night. Close to the Central Station and all the Temples. The Bar Staff are Sweetie Pies, even the Dutchman who talks way too much. Modern Architecture, and really spacious. Never ending hot water.

If you like backpacking, and you also find that comfort is something important, stay at K's house in Kyoto! The staff is wonderfull, you have plentyfull helpfull information and the atmosphere is perfect! The rooms are good too, only the beds can be so warm... Clean, spacious, affordable, good location ... What else do you expect from a hostel?? I stayed in a 6 bed mixed dormitory and the room equipped with heater, personal locker and hanger stand. It's not crowded with sufficient moveable space. The second floor is a spacious lounge that can easily accommodate 30 pax comfortably and that's my favourite place to... More

This hostel is really nice, easy to communicate in english, the service is good, free wifi. we need to share the toilet and wash room with others but it's really clean. Moreover, I think the location is really good, its very closed to the train station Nijō Station. If you want to take the bus, you can also buy the... More

I stayed at this hostel three times while I was visiting Kyoto. It is very convenient, about 10 minutes walk from Kyoto Station. If you take a cab, it will cost around 700 yen from the station. The staff all speak good english and are very helpful. There is also a lot of information by the reception area if you... More

Great quality of sheets and room furniture. Shampoo and conditioner included. Services like bike rental and breakfast are cheap, good and available. Nice place to meet people if traveling alone because of the comun areas. All in all, great hotel for a great price, we recomend it highly.

About 10 min walk from JR station which makes it very convenient base for train travelling. The staff are so friendly and helpful. We stayed in a twin room and it was warm and quiet. The shared bathrooms are spotless and great hot showers not over a bath and with a fixed shower head ( pleasant surprise for Japan!). Lots... More

I had an awesome time during my stay at K's hostel! Great common area, kitchen and wifi in the main building. Definitely request to be in the main building, we were put in the one next door and the kitchen was an absolute mess! A sign read that the fridges were cleaned out weekly but that can't have been the... More

We were impressed by the lobby and living hall. It's cosy, comfortable and better than some 3-star hotel. Moreover, K's House Kyoto has lift access, so there is no worry with big luggage. The toilet, shower, kitchen and other facilities are nicely equipped with all the basic needs and the rooms are clean and comfortable.

Staying in Shimogyo-ku

Neighborhood Profile
Shimogyo-ku
Shimogyo-ku is centered around the busy train hub, Kyoto Station. A nexus for commerce, shopping, dining, and hotels, the Shimogyo-ku area is infused with tourists and local business travelers, making it a competitive location for ever-new commercial structures. The shops and cafes here are chic and trendy, as a result, with many recognizable chains. Commuters flood the Shimogyo-ku area twice a day, and with Kyoto Station itself being a modern mega-complex and an architectural marvel, this neighborhood is one of the most contemporary and energetic areas that the city has to offer. Buildings here look futuristic, and huge department stores, shopping arcades, and public meeting spaces provide every possible convenience. It is also nearly the only place in Kyoto where rooftop dining and socializing is available, completing its modern tone.
