Was in Kyoto for 3 nights. Arrived via bullet train which is disembarks a short 5-7 minute walk away from this hotel. The next morning we took a tour through Sunrise Tours which left from a 3 minute walk from the lobby. Brilliant. Because we have a family of 4, we had to get two rooms but the hotel honoured... We stayed here 2 nights after staying 3 nights at the magnificent Hotel Monterey and before staying at the gem of a hotel, the Gran Ms Kyoto. Both were far superior for similar price. Only stay at the Keihan if you need to catch an early train, otherwise just get into the heart of Kyoto and away from the station.... More

Great location with underground and above ground access from Kyoto Station; amazing breakfast, both Western and Japanese; 711 and Lawson within 3 minutes walk; only problem was the Internet; we had to sit in the bath tub and toilet to get a decent reception

Keihan is good for those looking for a budget hotel and travelling by train. The twin bed room is better to stay in size wise . The rooms on eleventh floor have better views. The hotel also has an executive floor with better amenities anf a lounge. The room amenities were average with not even tea bags and sugar sachets.... More

Hotel has comfortable accommodations and is right across from the train station. Also, Cycle Kyoto is located right behind the hotel a few blocks up if you plan to do that activity. It is also 30 minutes walking distance to the Kyoto Rail Museum (12 dollars for adults), which is great for those with kids! The McDonalds is right across... More

Hotel keihan is located opposite to the kyoto station from where all sight seeing buses, city buses, bullet trains, subway etc.starts, so a huge plus point for that. We were three people and had booked a room where they provided us three big beds, much bigger than what we expected. They don't give drinking water but you can get it... More

Such a great spot close to the station and near all transport hubs, restaurants and facilities. The hotel actually surpassed my expectations on service and quality. Small rooms but for Japan it was quite reasonable. I also had a small table and chair. Would stay here again

Location of the hotel was very good...just 5-6min walk from kyoto station..even have underground passage from the station to walk through the hotel in case of raining. Next to it has a department store as well and a few shops and eatery. Room was spacious enough for 2 persons. The bed was big n comfortable to sleep. No notable noise... More

The hotel location is really good because near by Kyoto station. It takes only 5 minute by walking. The hotel condition is good also. Eventhough the room is quite small but it's really clean.Breakfast is really interesting too, they have japanese food and western food.

this hotel is very basic, but location is great. Exactly at kyoto station and surrounding by all the mall and dept stores. I was quite annoyed when i wanted to pay with US dollars, the receptionist guy said ok but i guess he didnt understand what i said. So when i gave the $, they rejected and they asked me... More

Staying in Southern Kyoto

Neighborhood Profile
Southern Kyoto
Southern Kyoto has a reserved air. Though the Fushimi Inari Shrine is one of Kyoto's major tourist attractions, the surrounding nature, parks, gardens, temples, and shrines provide less-visited spaces for strolling and reflection. The Fushimi Inari Shrine itself is made up of 32,000 sub-shrines, and the mountain they are dotted across beckons hikers, picnickers, and lovers of the outdoors. Many of the mountain's off-set paths aren't frequented by tourists, and the mountain's serenity can be enjoyed at a leisurely pace. Southern Kyoto is the place to enjoy being outside, and to pay your respects to the ancient architecture and gods of the land that are celebrated here.
