This was a very nice hotel - rooms were tiny as expected but perfectly comfortable and clean. The communal bath was very nice with a nice garden to look out to. Only given 4 stars since I thought it was quite expensive given no. Real fast included in the room rate.

this hotel is in a great location. the staff is extremely friendly and helpful. It is half a block from the subway and very close to nijo castle. The room size is normal for asia and there is a on site onsen with the garden view!

Known as slightly above average business hotel chain I was disappointed about the room size compared to other hotels of the chain. This would make it average. But being charged over 280 USD for a single room excluding breakfast leads to a disappointing rating. If you are a tourist visiting several days, stay in Osaka and commute by Shinkansen which...

what an excellent hotel location, 1 block from both subway lines! we were traveling with a 3 year old and they had a welcome bag for her which made her day! the beds were very comfortable but in the traditional way, only singles and no king sized rooms. we were not in Kyoto long enough to enjoy all the amenities...

This is a nice clean and well situated hotel. It's within walking distance of some nice restaurants and the metro line. I can't comment on the Japanese baths as I'm tattooed so I wasn't allowed in. I would recommend this hotel to anyone looking for something clean and basic.

We booked our hotel at the last minute and it was the beginning of the blossom season. Kyoto Garden hotel was a small boutique like ambiance. There was a small garden as you entered and it all looked nice and cosy. Till we saw the room. This was very small even by Japan standards. Two beds occupied the entire room....

The hotel was clean with very good service. Staffs were very attentive and helpful. The hotel also has a small public hot-tub onsite for guests who would like to enjoy Japanese lookalike onsen. The triple room was a little too small for three persons and the pillow was a little flat - when I slept, it was like i didn't...

Mitsui Garden Sanjo was the best hotel we stayed at in Japan. It is lovely and clean and quiet and staff spoke better English than most other places. Not only, but everyone went to great length in order to assist whenever possible. Additionally, our receptionist took charge of finding out what happened exactly with our luggage which had been lost...

Nice, clean and comfortable hotel in central Kyoto. It is one block from the subway that takes you to the train station and to other sight-seeing locations in Kyoto. The rooms are not large, but are big enough for a businessman or travelers spending the night after a day of sight-seeing. There is very nice restaurant next door to the...

Location is very good. Close to " 烏丸御池" station. There are several coffee shops and a book store, mos burger near hotel. Staff is very friendly and room is big enough to open luggage and you could walk in room easily. Makes me want to stay this hotel again and try their breakfast next time.

Staying in City Center

Neighborhood Profile
City Center
No district of Kyoto is quite as representative of its blended nature as the City Center. By day, the covered shopping arcades along Kawaramachi and Shijo Street bring deal hunters and fashionistas out in droves to peruse the clothing, accessories, gifts, and home goods offerings. When it grows dark, the City Center is a hip spot for nightlife, alive with bars and clubs. A trendy culinary scene and an abundance of local watering holes give the Center its youthful vibrancy. In contrast, the quieter areas of the City Center seem a world away, shielded from noise by the foliage of the public gardens and zen spaces surrounding the area's shrines, castles, and the Imperial Palace. These ancient and sacred spots are seamlessly folded into the scenery, providing a respite from the energy of the city, but close enough to put you directly back onto the pulse of the city when you're ready.
