We were very happy with our stay here. Everything felt safe and secure, and there were plenty of facilities available if you needed them such as kithcen, restaurant and laundry. The shower had incredible pressure! We really miss it haha. It's a great location too. Easy to walk to the station and Gion, where we often went for meals out...

Simple accomodation near Kyoto central station amidst some cute streets. Good base to explore Kyoto. Shower needed daily cleaning and sometimes lacked hot water (lukewarm only) but was ok for us. Kitchenette was handy. Room was warm and futon beds comfy

Thank you for your stay and feedback. We are grateful that we got a positive comment although you have some problems during your stay. To shower by the hot water, there is sometimes a need to adjust the tap. We will see how it works again every ones and make them clearer for a guests' use. We again appreciate your...

We stayed both here and in kawaramachi, and we like Inoi-no-ie better. It is still centrally located, and just about 10-15 mins walk to Kyoto Station (great weather!), but not so chaotic and busy. It is tucked in so you can get lost, but once you get oriented, the place is actually quite charming. The single/ double room is awfully...

Stayed here for 3 nights in July. The place have a hostel feel to it but not in a bad way. There is a small kitchen if you are on a budget and want to prepare your own meal. We had a 4 person room for 2 persons, this was pretty nice, 4 persons might have been crowded. Simple but...

We stayed 5 nights in this guest house. Good service at the front desk. Good indications to get to the room. Once there, we had a nice room, just enough confortable. The kitchen, which we had access to, was convenient, just like the common living room. Everything was clean. Only default: the walls are pretty thin and we heard the...

We sincerely thank you for your stay and great feedback although there is a sound trouble. We are always trying hard not to cause this problem, it sometimes happens. However, we are thinking of another solution for this problem now, too. Apart from that, we got good comments and even a recommendation from you. We believe this positive review bring...

First off, do your research. This is a hotel / guest room in an Asian Country, of course the rooms as small, hallways are tight and restrooms are limited. However, you get more than your values worth here. Check in down the block, easy access to convenient stores and buses (10 - 15 min walk). I also enjoyed the small...

Good location, we basically walked everywhere we needed to go. We got a room on the first floor with attached bathroom. It was clean and the futon comfortable but there was a permanent damp smell to the place. There was a handwritten restaurant/bar guide in the kitchen that was helpful and a bunch of tips on the walls. Cute place...

I visited this place for 3 nights during my trip in Kyoto in April 2015. For me, I was like 13-15 mins walk from Kyoto St. The address that was given on their website or on TA was not a place to check in. The alley was so tiny and dark. So,I did have a difficult time to find the...

Stayed here with a few friends in a standard room, whereby you lay your own futon etc out on the floor. Location was good, if a little tucked away (key collection was from a hidden away reception/bar around the corner), but within easy walking distance from Kyoto's main train station. A few friendly family noodle joints within close vicinity, and...

We were here in June 2015 with two small children 3 and 5. We were able to get one of the two rooms on the main floor, which was nice for our youngest to avoid the steep stairs. There is a decent kitchen well equipt on the main floor but it gets a bit crowded where there are a few...

Staying in Shimogyo-ku

Neighborhood Profile
Shimogyo-ku
Shimogyo-ku is centered around the busy train hub, Kyoto Station. A nexus for commerce, shopping, dining, and hotels, the Shimogyo-ku area is infused with tourists and local business travelers, making it a competitive location for ever-new commercial structures. The shops and cafes here are chic and trendy, as a result, with many recognizable chains. Commuters flood the Shimogyo-ku area twice a day, and with Kyoto Station itself being a modern mega-complex and an architectural marvel, this neighborhood is one of the most contemporary and energetic areas that the city has to offer. Buildings here look futuristic, and huge department stores, shopping arcades, and public meeting spaces provide every possible convenience. It is also nearly the only place in Kyoto where rooftop dining and socializing is available, completing its modern tone.
