I had the good fortune to stay at B&B Juno for 2 weeks in June, 2016. Keiko's kindness, assistance with directions, delicious breakfasts, and clean, comfortable surroundings were exceptional. All 3 rooms are simple and charming, but I especially enjoyed mine, with its sweet little balcony. The location is fantastic. Kyoto university, the Philosopher's Walk, good restaurants, and many lovely... More

We stayed at Juno with 2 adults and 2 kids aged 11 and 12. And to say it straight away, for us it was a perfect place to stay, which we enjoyed very much. We used two of the three rooms in the house. Juno was the perfect spot to retreat after a busy day of sightseeing. It is in... More

B&B Juno is a lovely house in a great location - the nearby Path of Philosophy and Ginkaku-ji were two of the highlights of our trip to Kyoto. As this is the university area, there are lots of cheap eats nearby. And it's very easy to visit other parts of Kyoto by bus, train, or foot. As other reviewers have... More

This is a simple 3 bedroom house with a shared bathroom and toilet, so don't expect luxury. It is, however, homely and comfortable. Keiko is a delight. She made us fabulous Japanese breakfasts every morning and even gave us a cooking class. She is endlessly helpful and patient with advice on directions, transport and things to do. Junos location is... More

B&B Juno is a great choice for your stay in Kyoto. It's an old Japanese home so it was a unique stay compared to a classic hotel room. We forgot to notify the owner, Keiko, of when we would be arriving. She had the key, maps and directions waiting for us when we arrived. Keiko doesn't stay at the location,... More

Stayed with Keiko for 4 nights and it was just perfect! I had room at the end of the hall with a nice balcony (upside!) and next to the toilet (small downside) Keiko is the perfect host: she helps you to find your way around the b&b as well as Kyoto! There are bikes available to use, which I did one... More

Keiko's hospitality is second to none. The B & B was immaculate, and Keiko's western breakfast was just what we needed to start our day! My wife and I wanted to try traditional Japanese accommodations without breaking the bank for the ryokan experience, and this minshuku did not disappoint. She served coffee, Canadian bacon, eggs served to your liking, orange... More

I stayed at B&B Juno for around a week at the end of a long trip around Asia. Visiting Kyoto was the highlight of the whole trip- in no small part due to my stay at B&B Juno. Firstly the B&B is ideally located, Kyoto is not a particularly large city and it is both possible and a pleasure to... More

Keiko runs a great traditional Japanese Bed & Breakfast. The location: The house is 30-40min from the train station (by bus), but just 10min by foot from the silver pavilion (Ginkaku-ji) and the Philosopher's walk. Everything in Kyoto is within easy reach by bus just 2min walk from the house. The place: The house itself is 80 years old and... More

It was a real pleasure to come back to stay here. The host Keiko is ever so hospitable. After nine days in Japan, we opted for western breakfast and they were just so good and filling. We were here in August as a couple. Our daughter came on this occasion to Chubu with us. We came again to Kyoto as... More

Staying in City Center

Neighborhood Profile
City Center
No district of Kyoto is quite as representative of its blended nature as the City Center. By day, the covered shopping arcades along Kawaramachi and Shijo Street bring deal hunters and fashionistas out in droves to peruse the clothing, accessories, gifts, and home goods offerings. When it grows dark, the City Center is a hip spot for nightlife, alive with bars and clubs. A trendy culinary scene and an abundance of local watering holes give the Center its youthful vibrancy. In contrast, the quieter areas of the City Center seem a world away, shielded from noise by the foliage of the public gardens and zen spaces surrounding the area's shrines, castles, and the Imperial Palace. These ancient and sacred spots are seamlessly folded into the scenery, providing a respite from the energy of the city, but close enough to put you directly back onto the pulse of the city when you're ready.
