Despite a well appointed location near a major shrine, the Hyatt Regency in Kyoto has more in common with a 3 star Best Western than a 5 star luxury hotel. As soon as you step into the lobby there is an immediate feeling of a hotel that is more interested in charging through the nose for everything it can take...

This hotel is near 3 temples, near bus routes and sub stations. Although it is away from the main shopping area, you can easily get there with about 7 dollars by taxi, which are always available. The breakfast, unless included is expensive ¥33,000 (approximately $33). The service is excellent, you have movies to rent, bath salts, as some of the...

I stayed here for a few nights recently whilst visiting Kyoto and it's a great Hotel with everything you need. It's centrally located and handy for getting around. Very clean rooms, very comfy, maybe slightly basic but thats the Japanese style. The restaurants were both excellent and served good quality food. Great staff and concierge were excellent and very helpful...

We stayed in this very pleasant hotel for 2 nights. As we wished to see as many sights as possible, we asked the advise of the concierge desk. A lovely agent, speaking perfect English, gave us super ideas and took in the weather forecast as a great guiding factor. Without her advise we would not have seen so many places...

Had 3 nights here off the back of 4 nights at the Grand Hyatt in Tokyo. You shouldn't really compare the both as they’re essentially different brands, but you do notice the difference and can’t help but compare them both. Firstly, location. It’s not central, and is about a 10 min cab ride from Kyoto’s main train station. Whilst it’s...

We were concerned about staying at a hotel that was not in downtown Kyoto. After seeing how ugly the post-1950's buildings are in Kyoto, we were glad we chose the Hyatt. It is not an expensive taxi ride from downtown. There is not much to see in the Hyatt area. However, the hotel is in a quiet area, our room...

Spent 3 nights here while visiting the city: conveniently located, easy to reach all temple/museum destination. Very good rooms (we've been upgraded), and excellent staff, professional but very friendly and helpful. Breakfast can become a bit crowded after 8am, and gym is hard to be found ....

Kyoto was an amazing place to visit and we would have been fine with almost any accommodations, but returning to our room after a full day of walking through the city was a real treat! The hotel was beautiful from the lobby through - the room was spacious with a great bed and one of the best showers i've ever...

We spent two nights here and found it to be a very nice hotel with friendly people and good food. It was expensive but worth the dollar value. The transportation service from and to train station was a nice touch. The Hellmen were good at getting cabs that took a credit card as many did not take credit cards.

This is a western style hotel which is both comfortable and stylish. The hotel is set back a little from the street and certainly is Japanese in style. Reception staff were welcoming. The public areas of the hotel use a lot of wood in the walls and ceilings which also makes for a warm and welcoming ambience. Our nice sized...
