Staying at The Westin Miyako for our first trip to Kyoto, not disappointed at all. The hotel is a short walk from the metro station. Breakfast, food at the hotel is one of my favourite. The hotel also has a shuttle bus to the city, very convenient. Love to go back again!

I stayed two nights with my wife in early March 2020 at The Westin Kyoto. The stay was simply superb! Given that we were traveling in the middle of the coronavirus pandemic, we appreciated the property-wide hand sanitizer stations, as well as all staff wearing masks. Upon check in, we were upgraded to a junior suite in the renovated part of the hotel. The suite was one of the nicest rooms that I've yet to stay in. Everything was fresh and the design was well thought out. The amenities were plentiful and the furnishings quite comfortable. The A/C worked well (even in March with cooler weather outside). We had breakfast at the hotel one day. While the buffet was not available because of coronavirus, we were well accommodated with a large set plate. We also had afternoon tea in the lounge, which was delicious as well. The hotel is in a great location--at least a third of the key Kyoto highlights are within a 20-minute walk radius. Plus, the hotel offers a complimentary shuttle to/from Kyoto Station. Without a doubt, I'd stay here again and cannot recommend the hotel enough!

I had a very nice stay. I found the service to be excellent with each and every interaction with all employees. Upon arrival at Kyoto Station, finding free shuttle to hotel is no problem. Hotel website has very detailed information. There is a schedule and we used shuttle multiple times. Check in was very professional and I was happy to receive an upgrade to a very spacious room with a fantastic view. Hotel has undergone significant updates. Our room was remodeled. Wifi worked well. Spacious, nice bathroom, pijamas, robes, comfy slippers, turndown service, all great. Housekeeping was good and room was very quiet. Concierge was helpful, booking tours, local information. We enjoyed the afternoon executive lounge, good quality food and professional staff. Breakfast was also very enjoyable, nice view, professional staff, multiple Japanese and international options. We walked around hotel, it is large, has multiple unique areas, such as observation areas, gardens, traditional tea house, etc. Overall a great stay.

Hotel is located in the north-east of Kyoto but perfectly placed for walking to the temples and shrines in this area, as well as the Path of Philosophy, and to the Gion District (around 20-30 minutes). If you don't feel up to walking the hotel runs a free shuttle bus 3 times an hour which stops on Sanjo, Gion Corner and Kyoto Station. Stunning views from Raquo restaurant which offers all day dinning. The breakfast buffet is a huge variety of Western and Japanese dishes, with live cooking stations... Paul on the omelette station prepared delicious dishes for me every morning! I also tried the dinner buffet one evening and was pleasantly surprised by the comprehensive range of food offered both in the buffet and from the cooking stations (sushi, steamed crab, etc). What also impressed me was the level of food hygiene and serving utensils for each and every dish or plate of food on the buffet. Very friendly and helpful serving staff for whom a pot of English breakfast tea was no trouble each morning... thank you! If you are a member of Marriott's loyality program, there is discount offered in Raquo at least, I also tried the bar lounge, Rokuza, one evening for a couple of drinks and a bar snack, Quite pricey and has a cover charge of 1000 Yen. But it was comfortable and had a serene ambience. From the 5th floor there is access to two gardens which are nice to explore and the 9th floor has a terrace from which you can enjoy yet more stunning views of the area. Bedrooms are clean with super comfortable beds - the bathroom has a lovely deep bath, as well as shower and the toiletries are very good. The bathroom also has a drawer stocked with spare toothbrushes, haribrushes, body cloths, vanity kit etc. The bedroom has a small chest of drawers in which various kimono-style gowns are stored, so there really is only one drawer available for your "smalls". The room is also equipped with hairdryer, clothes brush, mini-bar, coffee/tea-making facilities and room safe. I was here for a conference and arrived round 12noon but couldnt check in straight away as my room was still being prepared - usual check-in time is 3pm, so if you are arriving early morning in Tokyo and getting the Shinkansen to Kyoto, it is worth asking for an early check-in so you don't have to hang around waiting. All the staff of the hotel were lovely, incredibly helpful and polite. They even assist in taking your luggage to your room as standard which was a nice touch. I'd be very happy to stay here again... and maybe try the afternoon tea in the Mayfair or dinner in the Teppanyaki restaurant... Thank you for a very comfortable and enjoyable stay.

We had two rooms for 4 nights in early January of 2020. The entire staff was extremely friendly and helpful throughout our stay, and most of the facilities were newly renovated (believe the meeting space is still planned for mid-2020 but we were there for leisure so did not experience those areas). The F&B options were very good - they do a very comprehensive breakfast buffet daily with a variety of Japanese and western options, and we splurged one night at the Teppanyaki carve out in the French specialty restaurant. The hotel is located on the northeast side of Kyoto, in a relatively quiet neighborhood. Although the restaurant/shopping district may be a long walk for some potential guests, the hotel does run a regular shuttle service every 20 minutes to Kyoto Station with a couple of stops along the way. All in all, the Westin was a fantastic experience; we would highly recommend it to all travelers to Kyoto and would not hesitate to stay there again.
