As almost anywhere in Kyoto, the service is extremely polite (respectful?) and good. The hotel has a functional location (close to almost everywhere) although not a great-fun location. One of the weakest aspects of the hotel is its breakfast (to be fair, I only tried their Western Breakfast; their Eastern Breakfast may be somewhat better); the only real good thing... More

Safe bet in the center city of Kyoto. 9 floors. Close to subway station. Sufficient number of restaurants nearby. Walking distance to a few tourist attractions. Friendly staff, and OK breakfast (your choice of continental or Japanese) for a decent price.

Easily accessible from Kyoto Station (just three stops via subway). Close enough to subway Karamusa Line and Tozai Line, as well as bus stops to famous attractions. Triple room is small but acceptable for the location and price. Convenience stores are nearby if you also arrive late.

Great rooms and nice staff. The cleaning was great too. The hotel is located close to the city center in a small street, and is very close to bus, subway and train. The Japanese breakfast was the only food we tried at the hotel, and it was cold and bad.

The hotel is clean and nice, lived in the economy room, small room , but all you need, not a room for big people, the heat in the toilet seat a bit too warm, very helpful in the reception, very easy access to the city center, possible to walk and also close to the underground station. Around the hotel you... More

Make sure to ask for nonsmoking rooms prior to checkin. However, our family can still smell smoke coming out of the elevator and eventually into our rooms. Rooms are clean but very old. Washing machines available near elevator. Do not recommemd to stay just because of the stench of smoke throughout the hotel. Worse hotel in our 2 weeks trip... More

I have stayed in a single bed room and room is just about ok. In terms of location, it is not far from Shinju area for shopping. Two restaurants in hotel but menu is always the same and it is quite boring if you stay there like three days or more. Staff are quite attentive and have facilities such as... More

The hotel is close to the station in the beautiful old section of the city. The price was very reasonable. It is quite modern and the rooms are very comfortable. The reception was welcoming and made us feel relaxed. Morning buffet was of good standard and worth the coin payed. We would stay there again.

We are here as part of a tour group. Rooms are small, but adequate. Both Western and Japanese breakfasts are available. Nothing fancy in thus hotel. Free wi if that works well. Can get CNN on the TV. Location on quiet street. Walking distance to shops and restaurants. Several convenience stores very near.

I was rather surprised as the room was large spacious and clean. I must say the cleaners really really did a fantastic job! Receptionists were very helpful when I asked them for directions around the tourist attractions. I have absolutely no complaints at all. Train station is less than 10mins walk as it's located at the main road. Nishikin market... More

Staying in City Center

Neighborhood Profile
City Center
No district of Kyoto is quite as representative of its blended nature as the City Center. By day, the covered shopping arcades along Kawaramachi and Shijo Street bring deal hunters and fashionistas out in droves to peruse the clothing, accessories, gifts, and home goods offerings. When it grows dark, the City Center is a hip spot for nightlife, alive with bars and clubs. A trendy culinary scene and an abundance of local watering holes give the Center its youthful vibrancy. In contrast, the quieter areas of the City Center seem a world away, shielded from noise by the foliage of the public gardens and zen spaces surrounding the area's shrines, castles, and the Imperial Palace. These ancient and sacred spots are seamlessly folded into the scenery, providing a respite from the energy of the city, but close enough to put you directly back onto the pulse of the city when you're ready.
