We love the room specially the toilet! Its a big toilet for Japan hotels. The hot bath is a treat after walking the whole day. If u dont mind walking a block from/to kyoto station, i highly recommend you to consider Almont rather than the nearer hotels which are old.

We had a relaxing stay in this hotel! The hot bath is a treat after a long day of walking in the wonderful city of Kyoto. The bathroom is one of the best i've stayed in Japan. If you don't mind walking a block from Kyoto station, choose this one over the hotels that are closer to the station.

We booked a double room with small double bed for 3N, comfortable room size. Hotel feels welcoming as we stepped in; clean, neat and very spacious lobby/reception area. It is well-staffed, so we checked in promptly; staff were professional, helpful and good command of English. Alot of info (from usage of amenities, public bath on 2F to tourist attractions) were... The hotel was the most modern place we stayed throughout my Japanese trip however the location from the nightlife and interesting locales was a fair distance, my boyfriend and I found ourselves taking the train and taxi numerous times to the Shijo area. Nonetheless the facilities, especially the onsen, were top class. I would recommend staying at the hotel for... More

This hotel was very modern inside, the staff were very friendly and the rooms were larger than I had been expecting given other hotels in Japan. If you are travelling as a couple I would recommend booking a twin room, as our twin was HUGE by Japanese standards. Very large bathroom and separate shower room. Beds are very comfy and... More

Surprisingly close to Kyoto Train Station, where city buses as well as buses to Osaka Airport are also based. The place is clean and perfectly organized to make you feel welcomed and comfortable. Rooms are tiny but well provided. Modern Japanese style public baths are available at no additional cost and are a blessing late at night after all-day walking... More

The public bath is fantastic~ we love it so much The location of this hotel is also good, about 10 mins walk from main station. The only complain is the size of double bed. It is too small for two adults.

We ended up staying in the Almont because delays in our planning and caused a skyrocketing of prices at other hotels. However this turned out to be a blessing in disguise because the the Almont was serious value for money. For the price point which was around 12k yen per night twin share, this was one of the most value... More

The hotel is nice and clean, complete with an onsen. The onsen was not too busy every time I went. The staff are very pleasant and greet you with an enthusiastic “irashaimase” and “iterashaimase” on your way in and out. The rooms are expectantly on the small side, as per Japanese standard, the building is a bit dated but is... More

Staying in Southern Kyoto

Neighborhood Profile
Southern Kyoto
Southern Kyoto has a reserved air. Though the Fushimi Inari Shrine is one of Kyoto's major tourist attractions, the surrounding nature, parks, gardens, temples, and shrines provide less-visited spaces for strolling and reflection. The Fushimi Inari Shrine itself is made up of 32,000 sub-shrines, and the mountain they are dotted across beckons hikers, picnickers, and lovers of the outdoors. Many of the mountain's off-set paths aren't frequented by tourists, and the mountain's serenity can be enjoyed at a leisurely pace. Southern Kyoto is the place to enjoy being outside, and to pay your respects to the ancient architecture and gods of the land that are celebrated here.
