Nice clean hotel. Twin rooms much larger than the double rooms. We stayed on the top floor (6th) there was basically no noise. Breakfast had a good variety of food, including fruit and western style food. The only issue with this hotel is location. It's great if you want to be close to Kyoto station (5 minute walk) but it... If you're after a hotel close to Kyoto station this hotel is great - it's a 10 minute easy walk to the hotel from the station. If you're after a hotel close to downtown Kyoto (teramachi street or the Nishiki Markets) this hotel is not great. Clean and modern rooms - the double bed rooms are small so I recommend... More

My family of four (2 adults, 1 child and 1 baby) recently stayed at the Almont Hotel Kyoto, and found it to be a comfortable business hotel with very friendly and helpful staff. It is located in a quiet neighbourhood about 10 minutes walk from the Shinkansen side of Kyoto Station, and we did not feel unsafe walking back to... More

From the first moment to the last, the staff were excellent: friendly, spoke great English, and extremely helpful. Room size and restrooms were spacious. Definitely a step up from the last hotel we stayed in while on this trip. Would recommend to anyone visiting this lovely jewel in Japan.

Everyone raves on and on... This is a good hotel and the hot spring communal bath is a great plus. The staff is welcoming and pro. As they should be. The rooms are miniscule, we had two different doubles one smoking (not our choice!)and one non. Both had the bed up against the wall thus not possible to walk around... More

Hotel is walking distance from Kyoto train station. You won't run out of nearby places to eat, as the train station offers a lot of restaurants and coffee shops. There's a nearby 711, as well as a temple that has a beautiful cherry blossom tree (we visited in April). Rooms are spacious, and they have triple sharing rooms.

Close to Kyoto Train Station the Almont Hotel is fairly easy to find. The room was relatively small but very comfortable. The staff were polite and there were origami placed in your room with offers of lessons if you had time for them. Although you didn't get a view from the windows in the hotel you only need venture a... More

This hotel is very modern with comfortable beds, a large room, and large bath. There are some English speaking staff and they are very helpful. We were three adults traveling and had three comfortable beds. Our non-smoking room was really smoke free too. It is also just a 10 minute walk from the Kyoto Station and a 15-20 minute walk... Loved everything about this hotel. Great location less than a 10 minute walk from Kyoto Station, relatively spacious room (for Japan), relatively new building, clean, friendly staff, good internet and laundry facilities -- what's not to like?

Staying in Southern Kyoto

Neighborhood Profile
Southern Kyoto
Southern Kyoto has a reserved air. Though the Fushimi Inari Shrine is one of Kyoto's major tourist attractions, the surrounding nature, parks, gardens, temples, and shrines provide less-visited spaces for strolling and reflection. The Fushimi Inari Shrine itself is made up of 32,000 sub-shrines, and the mountain they are dotted across beckons hikers, picnickers, and lovers of the outdoors. Many of the mountain's off-set paths aren't frequented by tourists, and the mountain's serenity can be enjoyed at a leisurely pace. Southern Kyoto is the place to enjoy being outside, and to pay your respects to the ancient architecture and gods of the land that are celebrated here.
