Nice new hotel with large room and a good breakfast. Available a public bath and public laundries. What a pity they don't offer Their guests bottles of water in The room as many japanese hotels do also considering the hot and very humid temperature in August. It is 7 minutes walking from The train and bus station and this can... More

We booked a semi-double room. The room is small but very clean. We are surprised that our room have a humidifier. We have tried the public bath (not onsen). It's very relaxing. It takes 10-15 mins walk to Kyoto Station. There is no retails and restaurant nearby. Generally we have a nice stay at Almont Hotel Kyoto.

Very comfortable hotel, helpful staff, free public bath (not an onsen), breakfast good mix of Western and Japanese food. Two long blocks from train station ( safe neighborhood). There is no restaurants right next to the hotel but plenty at or near train station. 15 min walk to several attractions: Toji, Shosei-en, Higashi-Honganji.

Highly recommended as a place to stay while you're visiting Kyoto. The hotel is just a 10 minute walk from Kyoto station and you can easily take a cab from the hotel to many temples and other sites for around $10-20. The public bathhouse located inside the hotel is also a great plus as we used it almost everyday to... More

This hotel is very close to Kyoto station. The staff are also extremely friendly and helpful. The rooms were small but adequate and extremely modern and clean. Lovely hotel and very friendly staff! The bathhouse also looked great but we didn't get a chance to try it out. There are many convenience stores and restaurant nearby.

This Hotel is in the south of the City Close to Kyoto main Train Station. When you arrive you feel so welcome. The room was very clean and comfy. Moreover you could use a traditional public bath in the Hotel. The breakfast was also nice and you could shouse japanese or international stuff on the buffet. All in all I... More

I booked this hotel unwillingly (there were almost no hotel rooms left in the city), and was pleasantly surprised. Ordinarily, I would choose to pay more for a room in a nicer location and with slightly nicer amenities. But, I would happily recommend this hotel to someone visiting Kyoto and looking for a value option. Strengths: -The hotel is located... More

The place was clean, however that's what you'd expect from a hotel in the 21st century. One day after coming back to our hotel we found a rubbish bag inside my suit case, the hotel staff didn't care much but did apologise... The rooms were much smaller than anything else we experienced for the same price in Japan. The location... More

During our two week trip to Japan we stayed in five different hotels and Almont was the best! Rooms are nicely kept, in good condition and spacious enough, there is a free onsen bath with all amenities and comfortable "house clothes" are provided by the hotel as are umbrellas for rainy days. Location is good though not super central, but... More

Staying in Southern Kyoto

Neighborhood Profile
Southern Kyoto
Southern Kyoto has a reserved air. Though the Fushimi Inari Shrine is one of Kyoto's major tourist attractions, the surrounding nature, parks, gardens, temples, and shrines provide less-visited spaces for strolling and reflection. The Fushimi Inari Shrine itself is made up of 32,000 sub-shrines, and the mountain they are dotted across beckons hikers, picnickers, and lovers of the outdoors. Many of the mountain's off-set paths aren't frequented by tourists, and the mountain's serenity can be enjoyed at a leisurely pace. Southern Kyoto is the place to enjoy being outside, and to pay your respects to the ancient architecture and gods of the land that are celebrated here.
