Stayed here with our family of 4 and wasn't expecting much but was pleasantly surprised. Room was huge with enough space for 4 beds. Rooms were super clean with nice bed linen and good bathroom amenities. Wifi in the rooms was good too. Hotel looks a bit shabby from outside so we were really happy with the rooms. Location was... The hotel is located just across the Kyoto Station and bus terminus, which makes it ideal for back-to- back travel around Kyoto in public transport. It is also surrounded by numerous eateries and shopping plazas. However, if you are not into intense travel, you can look for more quieter locations. The approach to the Kyoto Tower within the hotel premises.... More

Can fit 4 beds in a room ( one on a lounge which was fine for my son). Pretty basic, clean but smelling a bit of smoke, very close to transport which is handy but there are much better parts of Kyoto to stay in that are not noisy bustly transport hubs.

We booked 2 rooms. The rooms are small but clean and quiet. It is opposite the train station and a bus interchange. We were able to go to the attractions by taking the buses at the bus interchange. There are many convenience shops and cafés around the area. We have no problem finding a place for breakfast.

The Kyoto Tower hotel is very easy to find just in front of Kyoto train station. Our room was small, a bit outdated, but clean. The hotel is a good option, if you just want a decent place to sleep for the night.

Staying in Shimogyo-ku

Neighborhood Profile
Shimogyo-ku
Shimogyo-ku is centered around the busy train hub, Kyoto Station. A nexus for commerce, shopping, dining, and hotels, the Shimogyo-ku area is infused with tourists and local business travelers, making it a competitive location for ever-new commercial structures. The shops and cafes here are chic and trendy, as a result, with many recognizable chains. Commuters flood the Shimogyo-ku area twice a day, and with Kyoto Station itself being a modern mega-complex and an architectural marvel, this neighborhood is one of the most contemporary and energetic areas that the city has to offer. Buildings here look futuristic, and huge department stores, shopping arcades, and public meeting spaces provide every possible convenience. It is also nearly the only place in Kyoto where rooftop dining and socializing is available, completing its modern tone.
