If you are traveling around the Kyoto area this place is right across the street from the train station. The modern train station also has an abundance of restaurants, small shops, and places to check out tours. We were enjoying our first trip to this area and using the Japan Rail Pass. In the morning we would go to the... More

Chose a small room without a window due to everywhere in Kyoto being so expensive at this time of year. However there was an emergency exit window so no view but natural light. Hotel reception staff very friendly and helpful. Reception area has seating and a street view. Amazing amount of tourist info sheets which give bus numbers, train directions... More

This hotel has a brilliant location - a two minute walk from Kyoto station which not only gives easy access to Osaka/Tokyo/Hiroshima etc via the bullet train but also has the Kyoto bus station outside, for easy access to most Kyoto-based activities. The hotel is also close to a plethora of shops and restaurants (mostly in the station). The staff... More

before I booked the hotel, i wasn't sure if this place is better than staying in hotel in the city center( near gion and shijo street). but after my stay here, I have no doubt that my choice was better (of course -my opinion). this hotel is located in front of the kyoto central station (train and and bus) and... Second time we have stayed in the last two years as it is right across the street from the main bus and train terminals, the hotel rooms are small but perfectly suited for a few days stay. Everything is there and as always the staff are extreemely polite and friendly. In the lobby are printed guides and routes to many... More

The hotel is right across Kyoto Station and excellent dining places are nearby (great ramen at Honke Daiichiasahi). The bus terminal in front of Kyoto Station is the perfect take-off point for most tourist attractions including the major shrines. Hotel rooms are on the smallish side but are kept immaculately clean. If you have a choice between Kyoto and Osaka... More

Overlooking Kyoto Central Station, it's super accessible. Hotel: Service is excellent but room is very clean but a bit small. Small fun things: ladies checking in get to choose some freebies at lobby. Facial masks, lotion etc. They have enough umbrellas to loan out in case of wet weather. Shopping: there's plenty of shops selling clothes and with a big... More

The hotel is just next to Kyoto Tower and opposite Kyoto station. Very strategic location because easy to access, very close to station and food. The hotel also very nice to prepare some skincare product for ladies customer. Some front desk not able to speak well English.

These rooms were cramped but decent facilities. Price was not bad. It was right across the street from the train station. Decent food options nearby. They also had coin operated laundry which was helpful on our long trip around the country. Didn't try their breakfast but there was a Starbucks on the corner.

Staying in Shimogyo-ku

Neighborhood Profile
Shimogyo-ku
Shimogyo-ku is centered around the busy train hub, Kyoto Station. A nexus for commerce, shopping, dining, and hotels, the Shimogyo-ku area is infused with tourists and local business travelers, making it a competitive location for ever-new commercial structures. The shops and cafes here are chic and trendy, as a result, with many recognizable chains. Commuters flood the Shimogyo-ku area twice a day, and with Kyoto Station itself being a modern mega-complex and an architectural marvel, this neighborhood is one of the most contemporary and energetic areas that the city has to offer. Buildings here look futuristic, and huge department stores, shopping arcades, and public meeting spaces provide every possible convenience. It is also nearly the only place in Kyoto where rooftop dining and socializing is available, completing its modern tone.
