The newly renovated hotel opened on Sept 8th 2016, so everything was new and clean. The hotel service is excellent, staff are friendly and helpful and level of English is very good. It offers a free shuttle bus between Kyoto station and the hotel; but the hotel is about 10 mins walk to the station. The rooms are comfortable with... More

The hotel service is really good and the staff is very helpful and friendly, especially their English level is quite good. Just around 10 minutes walk to the Kyoto train station and bus station, with lots of dining area nearby. The room is clean and comfortable with all the basic necessities. Just the wifi connection is not that good but... More

This is a large but quite old hotel where the rooms and communal areas are in need of an update. It's also a little on the edge of the centre, although quite convenient for Kyoto station. The hotel was fine but if you're looking for more modern decor and surroundings then there are other better places.

We didn't stay at this hotel, just called in for coffee late morning. The coffee lounge was very comfortable and the service excellent. We chose strawberry cake which was delicious. We spent a comfortable hour in these surroundings which was relaxing. If their coffee lounge is that good then the accomodation should be excellent. We will try that next time.

We stayed here for 5 nights as part of a tour so the hotel had already been selected for us. The room was nice, comfy beds, clean and nicely decorated. The screens on the windows were a nice traditional touch. This hotel is within walking distance of the station in kyoto where there are also places to shop and eat.

Only one P.R staff speaks English. The rest was very rude and unkind. The flower shop downstairs was dishonest & a big snob.I wonder if this is truly Japanese hospitality. I pent nearly 60 mins waiting for my flowers. When the florists brought it to me, not any word od THANK U VERY MUCH FOR WAITING.If this is Japanese courtesy, i wonder,... More

The room - called Quadruple Room, - we stayed at was a good size and the bathroom was a good size too. They provided us 4 beds - one for each in our family. Finding a hotel in Japan that accommodates 4 is very difficult and we are glad we found this hotel. The breakfast at the hotel - both... More

During our stay, we were treated like royal customers and the hostess was great and amazing. She knows our situation very well that my sister is disable and need wheelchair. Staying in Shimogyo-ku

Neighborhood Profile
Shimogyo-ku
Shimogyo-ku is centered around the busy train hub, Kyoto Station. A nexus for commerce, shopping, dining, and hotels, the Shimogyo-ku area is infused with tourists and local business travelers, making it a competitive location for ever-new commercial structures. The shops and cafes here are chic and trendy, as a result, with many recognizable chains. Commuters flood the Shimogyo-ku area twice a day, and with Kyoto Station itself being a modern mega-complex and an architectural marvel, this neighborhood is one of the most contemporary and energetic areas that the city has to offer. Buildings here look futuristic, and huge department stores, shopping arcades, and public meeting spaces provide every possible convenience. It is also nearly the only place in Kyoto where rooftop dining and socializing is available, completing its modern tone.
