No shuttle bus was provided between Kyoto Station and the hotel. The hotel did not provide coffee or tea bag in the room. And also no bottle of water is offered. Please consider my comments. Thank you very much.

The Kyoto Royal Hotel & Spa is a good hotel and a very good location to explore the area of Kyoto. The spa was under used so it was very available and reasonably priced. I got a 1 hour leg and foot massage for under $70 US. Very worth while after all the walking. Rent a bike at the hotel... More

We stayed 3 nights at this hotel which is located in the middle of all the amenities, shops, shopping centres and restaurants. I am not sure why the hotel is a Spa hotel, as this is very misleading because there is no Spa at this hotel. Our room was very tiny, but nice and clean- nothing to boast about. But... More

We stayed here for 3 nights during our tour of Japan. On check-in, the room requested by our travel agent was smoking (an error), the hotel staff were quite helpful and were able to change us to another room for 2 of the three nights of our stay. Another family checking in at the same time had also been allocated... More

We enjoyed our stay at Royal Hotel & Spa. Because we asked for a twin-bedded room (when we booked, none were available), we paid a bit more and were moved into a suite. Although it was a smoking room, there was no odor. There was plenty of room to spread out. The attached restaurant has a variety of foods, guaranteed... More

We were very lucky to be here for the big festival. In July, t takes place right outside the hotel. Check your dates. Very central for underground and buses. Also very close to the shopping lanes. Hotel room comfortable. The breakfast was copious . We loved it. Hotel desk staff , and all staff, were very friendly and helpful. Location... More

Great hotel in a perfect location. Very close to the shopping district and the restaurant area. Clean rooms and very friendly staff. Quiet hotel with a lovely breakfast buffet. We had rooms with connecting doors.

Located just near city hall, next to subway, buses & tourist office, this could not be more convenient. There are many shops & restaurants nearby. Rooms were large, comfortable. Hotel has a spa. Skip the breakfast as it is very expensive. There is a great bakery restaurant across the street called Suzya. The tourist office sells day bus tickets which... More

The hotel was not our priority in this wonderful Royal Japanese city, as we had a huge todo list on our agenda. All what we wanted was to have a central headquarter to rest and regenerate, because the 3 days seemed not long enough, what we wanted to see. Even though Tokyo had surprised us, with all the interesting places... More

Staying in City Center

Neighborhood Profile
City Center
No district of Kyoto is quite as representative of its blended nature as the City Center. By day, the covered shopping arcades along Kawaramachi and Shijo Street bring deal hunters and fashionistas out in droves to peruse the clothing, accessories, gifts, and home goods offerings. When it grows dark, the City Center is a hip spot for nightlife, alive with bars and clubs. A trendy culinary scene and an abundance of local watering holes give the Center its youthful vibrancy. In contrast, the quieter areas of the City Center seem a world away, shielded from noise by the foliage of the public gardens and zen spaces surrounding the area's shrines, castles, and the Imperial Palace. These ancient and sacred spots are seamlessly folded into the scenery, providing a respite from the energy of the city, but close enough to put you directly back onto the pulse of the city when you're ready.
