Booked this over 60 days in advance for 3 nights and received a relatively good price and breakfast was free. Found everything about this good quality, Check in was efficient, a pleasant greeting from an assistant who assisted with our bags. Having negotiated trains and subways in other cities we found the bus system very good. It at first appears... More

I checked in this hotel earlier today. Having to queue for 15 minutes with 10 people in front of you to check in is already something that did not happen often to me in a 'real' 4 star hotel. Also, knowing that my luggage had been delivered to the hotel earlier, I was surprised having to bring it myself to... More

We spent 3 nights in this hotel. It's very cleaned, the staff is welcome, the strategic position permits to reach the tube station in just 2 min walking. Very beautiful zone, full of shops, restaurant and attractions for tourists. I recommend it!! You also find an exchange machine right inside the hotel, in the first floor

The hotel is perfectly situated in Gion district, next to shopping area and about 3 km from Kyoto train station. The rooms are quite spacious (comparing to others in Japan) and very comfortable. The toilet was very clean with big bathtub and Siseido amenities.

Excellent choice for our short stay in Kyoto: booked online 2 days in advance and got a great rate (below Kyoto average). This is a 4* Hotel very conveniently located: 10 mins walk to downtown, 3 mins to Metro station, on the main street with various bus lines (bus in Kyoto is more convenient than the metro).

We stayed there for 4 nights. Very central location, 100 meters from subway station. The room was nice and clean, staff is friendly. We didn't include breakfast so can't say if it's any good but around the hotel there are tons of cafe and restaurants. For this pricing it's a good choice in my opinion.

We enjoyed our stay, it was clean, spacious and location was great. It was ideal for all our day trips and easy to access for late night dining and shopping (we walked everywhere). The hotel had bikes for hire, well worth the money spent (however, I'm sure there are cheaper options, but our time was limited). We were so busy... More

Best hotel I've ever stayed in Kyoto - room was very spacious, staff very helpful and speak English. Very classy styling and surrounds. The bar is very 50's class. Location is perfect for tourists - close to dining, shopping, fast food, street food, public transport, riverside, coffee shops etc. Coin laundry is available (with dryers as well). Hotel also has... We stayed in beautiful kyoto at the Kyoto royal, the rooms were clean and spacious with a double bed (very important and hard to find at times in Japan) , they were clean and neat and turned down everyday...the bathrooms were large with full sized baths and well stocked, we got a 6th floor room with river views. Great attentive hotel. Hotel staff was attentive and helped with trains. Close to train and sightseeing locations. Evening can get a little scary with so many love hotels nearby. Walls need to be soundproofed.

Staying in City Center

Neighborhood Profile
City Center
No district of Kyoto is quite as representative of its blended nature as the City Center. By day, the covered shopping arcades along Kawaramachi and Shijo Street bring deal hunters and fashionistas out in droves to peruse the clothing, accessories, gifts, and home goods offerings. When it grows dark, the City Center is a hip spot for nightlife, alive with bars and clubs. A trendy culinary scene and an abundance of local watering holes give the Center its youthful vibrancy. In contrast, the quieter areas of the City Center seem a world away, shielded from noise by the foliage of the public gardens and zen spaces surrounding the area's shrines, castles, and the Imperial Palace. These ancient and sacred spots are seamlessly folded into the scenery, providing a respite from the energy of the city, but close enough to put you directly back onto the pulse of the city when you're ready.
