Gion
Gion is Kyoto's famed Geisha District (called "Geiko" in Kyoto). Though Gion's many tea houses and entertainment restaurants are closed to foreigners, Geiko and Maiko in their traditional makeup with gilded hair in full kimono can be seen drifting the streets on their way to and from work, where they fan dance, sing, and play instruments for customers. Gion lights up at night, when the ancient-looking streets glow with lanterns along the river, where weeping willows catch the starlight and the air is warmed with conversation. Groups pass through to populate the restaurants and bars along the riverfront, but Gion still manages to be a mostly quiet district, due in large part to limited automotive traffic through many of its streets. Gion is a wonderful place to indulge in Kyoto's local and customary cuisines, and is best enjoyed after dark.

Very nice local pub specializing in sake. They also have various tasty Japanese snacks like rice crackers and different nuts. They have different tasting sake sets I recommend. Nice environment. I would totally go here again if I would be in Kyoto again.

We visited this Sake Bar which is attached to the hostel. We got ripped off over two glasses of sake - double the price they should have been. Also they were in plastic glasses. Wouldn’t recommend at all if you are looking for a sake bar in Kyoto

The missus and I didn’t stay at the hostel but the Sake Bar was along our walk into town and it turned about to be a great spot for some sake. The team there are friendly and welcoming, keen to introduce guests to their various sake. We shared 2 flights - 3 different glasses in

Lots of sake to try and the waiters know a lot about the different types! The fruit sake was one of my favourites! Nice chilled vibe too. They had snacks but we didn't try any of these! Maybe next time!

Hello, I stayed in a double room but with shared bathroom and toilet. The windows were small. But I don't know if they have a second double room with private bath. It may have this information at their web page. Good luck.
