The hotel is sleek and modern and the staff extremely courteous. It is in an ideal location and the price was fantastic. While most hotel rooms in Japan are small, this was to be expected. The toilet was a bit big for the size of the bathroom but it was a very nice room. They provided many bathroom products, which... More

Ideal location, so close to shopping malls and a good base for tours. Service was second to none. Breakfast was a bit expensive so opted out and ate at the nearby bakery (virtually next door). We paid extra for a corner deluxe twin room giving us 31 sq metres which was worth it when sharing with your 20 yo daughter!... More

Really lovely hotel, very near to the Kamo River (and the cutest Starbucks with the most exquisite view of the river and mountains), The Gion District, Yasaka Shrine, etc. I travelled solo as a woman and felt very safe.

This hotel was clean, contemporary, efficient and quick to respond to every request. My husband and I were so impressed by the gracious service, the central location, and the warmth and willingness of staff to understand and direct us toward our interests. The hotel is immaculate; rooms are small and unpretentious, but extremely comfortable and efficient. Everything from bathroom fixtures... More

This hotel is situated just across the road from the large shopping malls and 5 minutes walk to the Nishiki Markets. The train metro stations are very close and just a short walk so that made all our sightseeing very ease and accessible. The hotel has a distinct Japanese flavour to its decor which was beautiful, the rooms are reasonably... More

Fantastic hotel and an European manager (I hope I got his title right) makes the experience even more unique. We were able to get any queries clarified quickly and all the staff are very knowledgeable on the route around Kyoto and gave us fantastic advice. I have been to Japan over 10 times and I must say this is the... More

If you enjoy hotels with rude, confrontational and condescending staff, zero atmosphere and inedible breakfasts, then look no further. In the five years of using trip advisor this is only my second review but I’m compelled to warn others of the experience we had staying here. The biggest mistake from our side side was that we ignored the other posts... More

I read a lot of reviews about this hotel on TripAdvisor which is why I picked it stay in while in Kyoto. We were here for 5 nights and it was a great choice. It's very central to shops, buses, eateries etc. we had a corner suite for 2 adults and a teen and it was more than adequate for... More

this is a good 4 star hotel which is convenient and centrally located. I was pleasantly surprised that it was so central - a good stroll to nishiki night market with many eateries close by. Do check out the Sanjio shopping arcade nearby and you can also access other places via city bus. Gion is a leisurely 20 minutes stroll... More

Staying in City Center

Neighborhood Profile
City Center
No district of Kyoto is quite as representative of its blended nature as the City Center. By day, the covered shopping arcades along Kawaramachi and Shijo Street bring deal hunters and fashionistas out in droves to peruse the clothing, accessories, gifts, and home goods offerings. When it grows dark, the City Center is a hip spot for nightlife, alive with bars and clubs. A trendy culinary scene and an abundance of local watering holes give the Center its youthful vibrancy. In contrast, the quieter areas of the City Center seem a world away, shielded from noise by the foliage of the public gardens and zen spaces surrounding the area's shrines, castles, and the Imperial Palace. These ancient and sacred spots are seamlessly folded into the scenery, providing a respite from the energy of the city, but close enough to put you directly back onto the pulse of the city when you're ready.
