I am living in Japan and travel a lot around the country for professional reasons. This is possibly the worst hotel, in this category, I have stayed in the last 20 years. The service is very, very poor. Far from the usual polite Japanese standard. The staff, especially at the front, behaves like clients do not matter. Due to the... More

I stayed here for 1 night while on business as I had to catch the 6am Shinkansen the next morning to Shinagawa. The hotel is directly connected to the train station, so when you walk out, you simply take the escalator up to train ticketing and tracks...very convenient. I was given room 624 which was extremely spartan. Its like a... More

Very conveniently located in the main station in Kyoto so easy to get to. Easy check in and went to the room via the LONG corridor. Rooms that back onto the station side are above the train tracks, but you don't hear much noise. Similar to an Ibis, basic rooms but have a fridge and decent air conditioning units which... More

I stayed in Hotel Kintetsu Kyoto Station for one night for my recent business trip to Kyoto area. You just cannot beat the location as it is right at the Kyoto train station. The check-in is fast, friendly and efficient. The room was tiny, but who cared when all I needed was a clean and quite bed for one night.... More

Located within the Kyoto station, it is convenient to go anywhere in Kyoto. The service is good and the facility is simple, clean and just good. It is a great place for business for sure but if you are after some Japanese taste on your holiday, then there are plenty of other choices in Kyoto; one of the most popular... More

We chose this hotel because it is conveniently located at the Kyoto station. We took day trips to Kobe, Nara, Osaka and throughout Kyoto so the train station was a logical choice for us. The rooms are small but most of the noise from the train station was blocked. Why is there a big window in the bathroom that allows... More

I was there for a business trip in December, It was nice get out of the shinkansen, drop the luggage in the room, take a shower and get out of that station ready for a walk in kyoto... I had to take a bus to get to the touristic area but still it was fun. Getting back from tokyo was... More

Location is great! It's located right inside the station so it's very convenient. The service is wonderful as well. The only downside is that our room was a bit small (cozy); however everything was very tidy and clean. I will definitely book from this hotel again.

Of course it's convenient, right there in the station. But it was also a tad upscale for such a place, quiet in spite of the location, and while a tiny room, well appointed and clean. Breakfast in a small, crowded space was decent though with enough choices, including pickled vegetables, fish, rice and so forth.

Quiet, fully functional, tidy hotel room on the railway station with a direct view of the Shikansen trains leaving Kyoto. Buffet breakfast works well for Europeans. Wifi free. First hotel where I ever experienced two double windows to keep the station noise out. Lots of restaurants nearby and friendly help from the hotels concierges.

Staying in Southern Kyoto

Neighborhood Profile
Southern Kyoto
Southern Kyoto has a reserved air. Though the Fushimi Inari Shrine is one of Kyoto's major tourist attractions, the surrounding nature, parks, gardens, temples, and shrines provide less-visited spaces for strolling and reflection. The Fushimi Inari Shrine itself is made up of 32,000 sub-shrines, and the mountain they are dotted across beckons hikers, picnickers, and lovers of the outdoors. Many of the mountain's off-set paths aren't frequented by tourists, and the mountain's serenity can be enjoyed at a leisurely pace. Southern Kyoto is the place to enjoy being outside, and to pay your respects to the ancient architecture and gods of the land that are celebrated here.
