Welcome to Hana Hostel. “Hana” means “Flower” in Japanese. We try to be a fresh and cheery hostel like a lotus flower floating in the pond. Kyoto Hana Hostel opened in April, 2010.The building used to be a local “Ryokan”. We remodeled this into an advanced international hostel. As we are very close from the station and the guest rooms are well-equipped, we will be an good option to stay for not only backpackers but also for ordinary tourists with suits cases.

Shimogyo-ku is centered around the busy train hub, Kyoto Station. A nexus for commerce, shopping, dining, and hotels, the Shimogyo-ku area is infused with tourists and local business travelers, making it a competitive location for ever-new commercial structures. The shops and cafes here are chic and trendy, as a result, with many recognizable chains. Commuters flood the Shimogyo-ku area twice a day, and with Kyoto Station itself being a modern mega-complex and an architectural marvel, this neighborhood is one of the most contemporary and energetic areas that the city has to offer. Buildings here look futuristic, and huge department stores, shopping arcades, and public meeting spaces provide every possible convenience. It is also nearly the only place in Kyoto where rooftop dining and socializing is available, completing its modern tone.

First of all, we decided to stay at this hostel mainly because of the location. It is only 5 min walk from Kyoto station. There's a Lawsons convenience store across the street and a tech Yodobashi mall 3 min away. We arrived late at night...More

We were forced to extend another night in Kyoto due to the suspension of train services caused by Typhoon Jebi, and this hostel-like accommodation provides our shelter for another night. We booked a private room with a private bath, and was pleasantly surprised by how...More

I booked a room for 2 for 1 night. The room was clean and tidy. The AC worked properly. The futon bed was very comfortable. We have no regrets and we would consider coming back again in the future. The location was also very good.

Very disappointed with this hostel considering the mainly positive reviews and also compared to our experiences of travelling in Tokyo. For anyone who has been to Tokyo and is coming to Kyoto, expect a very different level of accommodation between the two cities. During our...More
