Great to have onsen after tired of exploring during daytime. Free ramen 9-11pm which is nice and bonus. Great choice especially hotel just opposite kyoto station 10min walk from station. A lot of restaurant at just walking distance from hotel and station . Shopping too

Great location (near Kyoto station), nice hot spring at the rooftop, free ramen provided at night (9-11pm). We stayed there for 3 nights and thoroughly enjoyed our stay. There is a convenience store attached to the hotel building too. Very convenient!

The hotel is located just a 2 minutes walk from Kyoto main station and Kyoto tower. The staff is very friendly and the breakfast buffet extraordinary providing several delicious japanese food. A Spa is also available. The only drawback is the size of the rooms. I booked a double for me alone, which was suitable. 2 people will have a...

If you are in Kyoto, staying near the station is a big help as it is central to your travel in the area. This hotel is safe, attractive, well presented and very close to the station. Typically hard beds, and excellent shower. Good amount of space for solo traveller. However, i stayed in a hotel to which the above description...

The room was average size for a japanese hotel room. Nice toilet seats with benefits! Free noodles served every night (but no flavour options for vegetarians) and a very nice onsen upstairs with an outdoor pool. The location was good, very near to the main station of Kyoto but still the area was quite restful. You can walk everywhere from...

This is my first stay at Dormy Inn, well-maintained and sought-out business hotel with hot spring, onsen at the top floor. My room is on the 6th floor, really tiny, however, it is filled with everything I need and more: free TV, small refrigerator, tooth brushes with tooth paste, hand soap, small hair brushes cups, portable makeup mirror, room wears,...

Breakfast: If you find yourself near a Dormy Inn over the Christmas / New Years holiday, be sure to sample their beautiful & hearty New Years Breakfast! Typically small Japanese hotel room but comfortable bed, clean and everything you need in the bathroom. Complimentary noodle dish in the evening after 19:00. Well located a couple of blocks from the main station. Lots of retaurants and shops nearby. Very convenient all around.

Staying in Shimogyo-ku

Neighborhood Profile
Shimogyo-ku
Shimogyo-ku is centered around the busy train hub, Kyoto Station. A nexus for commerce, shopping, dining, and hotels, the Shimogyo-ku area is infused with tourists and local business travelers, making it a competitive location for ever-new commercial structures. The shops and cafes here are chic and trendy, as a result, with many recognizable chains. Commuters flood the Shimogyo-ku area twice a day, and with Kyoto Station itself being a modern mega-complex and an architectural marvel, this neighborhood is one of the most contemporary and energetic areas that the city has to offer. Buildings here look futuristic, and huge department stores, shopping arcades, and public meeting spaces provide every possible convenience. It is also nearly the only place in Kyoto where rooftop dining and socializing is available, completing its modern tone.
