This was a family trip that was very relaxing. The Hotel has an excellent spa and a great place to soak after sightseeing in Kyoto. The breakfast was good but not exceptional. It has both Japanese and western entrees.
Stayed in 2009 with the help of a local friend. Lovely big room for 5 of us, tatami flooring with futon and 2 Western single beds, a balcony overlooking the river. In summer, it was lovely to watch the people strolling along the river in...More
We are lucky enough to have our friend being a member of the Society to take advantage of reasonable rate to stay here which is close to the center of Kyoto downtown area. It has a great view of kamogawa river and a walking distance...More
Apart from the garden access to the kamogawa (river) this place was rather disappointing.
There is no atmosphere, wifi onlyin ffoyer and the so called kaeseki dinner was mass produced and very unoriginal.

Japan > Kinki > Kyoto Prefecture > Kyoto > City Center / Kawaramachi / Karasuma / Shijo Omiya
No district of Kyoto is quite as representative of its blended nature as the City Center. By day, the covered shopping arcades along Kawaramachi and Shijo Street bring deal hunters and fashionistas out in droves to peruse the clothing, accessories, gifts, and home goods offerings. When it grows dark, the City Center is a hip spot for nightlife, alive with bars and clubs. A trendy culinary scene and an abundance of
local watering holes give the Center its youthful vibrancy. In contrast, the quieter areas of the City Center seem a world away, shielded from noise by the foliage of the public gardens and zen spaces surrounding the area's shrines, castles, and the Imperial Palace. These ancient and sacred spots are seamlessly folded into the scenery, providing a respite from the energy of the city, but close enough to put you directly back onto the pulse of the city when you're ready.
