We were prepared for the basic facilities and generally did not mind, the infrastructure, it is simple but cute. The noise insulation problem was as described elsewhere in these reviews, acute, and earplugs were not enough to hear every activities of our neighbors. However, by far, the most disappointing aspect was the staff. We felt treated like the travelers of...

Stayed here for 3 nights and experienced traditional living in Kyoto. The owner; Hide, recommended cafes nearby as well as Funaoka Onsen, which is a must-try if you are staying here. The neighbourhood map that Hide gives come in handy if you intend to explore the area and try out the recommendations. The house is clean and is located within...

This is the second time to Guesthouse NAGOMI kyoto. It's still give me the silent and traditional Kyoto living experience. Mr. Hide (guesthouse owner) help me a lot regarding Kyoto marathon 2014 and we have talked about many things about marathon, it's perfect. The house is located in a quiet area, if someone need a good quality of the sleep,...

Pretty nice place with traditional rooms and a really nice owner. The rooms aren't super cheap (as everything else in Japan), but they are cheaper than in other places. The guesthouse has a computer free of charge, its not centrally located, but its close to the golden pavillion and other temples. If you want an autentic experience this is the...

My cousin and I traveled to Kyoto in December and stayed at this guesthouse for one night. The owner was very nice and spoke great English. He also knew a lot about the area and was very helpful. The guesthouse is located pretty far from the Kyoto station but its very close to the Golden Pavilion and Ryoanji Temple. Overall...

I lived in Kyoto for several years, and the area around Daitokuji was always a favourite. Nagomi was a truly exceptional find. I stayed for nearly a week, and enjoyed every minute of it! If you're looking for a taste of 'traditional' Kyoto with a modern spin, this is the place to stay. Location: It's somewhat far away from Kyoto...

This is my 2nd review for Nagomi guest house, I had expressed some unhappiness in the way they handle their pets in my earlier review but it had been clarified by the owner so I decide to update the review by writing a new updated one. I stayed there for 3 nights during my stay in Kyoto, it's a small...

Guest House Nagomi is old wooden house, and because of that there was very cold in march. The rooms have heaters and blankets were warm, so at nights there wasnt cold. I slept there very good. The house is lovely, the rooms are quite big and clean. Walls are very thin and we could hear everything what other people talked...

Staying in Nishijin District

Neighborhood Profile
Nishijin District
A district with a long textile heritage, ancient Kyoto is still alive in the Nishijin District. Studded with its weaving factories, tea houses, and onsen, the neighborhood is charming and peaceful with a self-possessed air. Less traveled than other parts of the city, it is a district where you can take it at your own pace. Visitors can explore the many weaving and cloth houses, the free kimono shows, and the many shops selling traditional clothing and goods. Showcasing architecture with sloping roofs and wooden reliefs dating to decades past, the streets in the Nishijin District transport you back in time, making them a joy to wander.
