Detailed Reviews
Excellent location. Spotlessly clean. Beautifully furnished with traditional accents such as the paper window screens yet very well-equipped. Nice touch with the kimono and smart phone. Wonderful place, would very much like to return.

This was a surprise to find. Its a small building with a few apartments in a quiet area of town. The room was a typical Japanese minimalist room, very clean and with everything you would need to feel at home. It has a small kitchen area, a very nice bathroom and really comfortable bets. I would repeat my stay there if Im back in Kyoto.

Dear dana k, We are delighted to hear you thought we were one of the best city hotels in Japan, and that you found the washing machines useful during your extended stay. They are a homey touch, in addition to the decor, of the owner, who wants everyone to feel at home here. The staff are happy to hear you were satisfied with our service as well. We thank you for the recommendation, and hope to be able to welcome you back in the future! Best regards, My K House team

We were welcomed by a very hospitable receptionist, Misa who are very helpful and patient with us. All of the facilities are excellent. When we entered the room we were welcomed by a very touching personal hand note and 2 traditional summer kimono for us to wear (see picture). My wife and I spent three nights in My K House, its comfortable and spacious bedrooms, bathroom, and even a kitchen were much better than we expected, our room even equipped with washer and dryer machine so after 3 days to exploring we can take care of our laundry beautifully. The location is very convenient with a bus stop just 2 minutes walk and many attractions in Kyoto are within walking distance. We walked almost everywhere.
Keep up the excellent work !

My K House was great and I recommend it. Though it’s listed under the Bed and Breakfast option on TripAdvisor at the time I’m writing this, it is actually more accurately described as a boutique hotel. It’s not the most luxurious hotel I’ve stayed at, but it was my favorite hotel from my trip to Japan and was a great hotel for its price.
Location:
We really liked the location. I knew I wanted to stay in roughly this part of town, but was concerned from what I’d read in an earlier review that the street itself would unappealing. But it was actually great. For one thing, it’s a quiet street with almost no car traffic (taxis can enter, but seem unsure if they can). It’s a short walk to the river, the other side of the river, of the more touristy parts of central Kyoto. It’s also a very short walk to several canals. There are a few breakfast and other food options within a few block radius, as well as a 7-11 (useful in Japan), and many more just a bit beyond that.
Room:
We had that smaller size room (deluxe twin, I think it’s called). It’s a good sized, though not huge, room (for Japan) mixing newer and traditional styles. Air conditioning and wifi both worked very well. If you want to cook at all, there’s a small kitchen. One great touch was the washer/dryer combo, which made it much easier to wash some laundry than the normal bathtub method. There was practically no noise at all in the hotel (again, benefiting from a location on a quiet street)
Bathroom:
My biggest question about the room prior to arrival was the bathroom, specifically the shower, because it wasn’t clear what the shower was like. Ultimately, it was the best bathroom of any hotel on the trip. The toilet is new and fancy and the shower is actually part of a wet room. There’s a bathtub and then next to that is the shower, and the whole area is enclosed from the rest of the bathroom with a tight seal. Ultimately, it means a huge shower (especially for Japan)
Staff:
Staff was great, quickly helping make a dinner reservation and helping with calling taxis.

This was my favorite place we stayed during 2 weeks traveling Japan. The small boutique hotel has lots of charm, a warm friendly staff, and a great peaceful location.
Excellent HUGE shower, and a washer and dryer in the room. The rooms are a nice mix of Japanese style with modern touches with a nice balcony.
