Decor is cosy & relaxing & is conveniently located within eateries & shopping malls. Lounge was good place to chill with a very pro bartender who was good with his recommendations. i felt that service staff at the breakfast restaurant pales in comparison to front desk & the lounge but Overall it was an enjoyable stay.
Conveniently located just a couple of minutes away from the Shijo station, this hotel is strategically located near a major shopping street and several eateries and convenience stores. The hotel is beautifully designed and the rooms are quite spacious as compared to the average hotel room in Japan. Above all, this was also where we encountered a very kind lady, Ms Ishida (石田). On the same day we checked in, we had accidentally forgotten one of our bags onboard the Shinkansen to Kyoto, which contained a sizable sum of money. Upon hearing about our plight, Ms Ishida immediately got to asking for more details on the train service, car number, what the bag looked like, etc., and made numerous calls to the train company in a bid to track down our missing bag. She regularly updated us on the progress over the next day, and the bag was eventually delivered to the hotel the following day. We are very thankful to Ms Ishida for her help, and would like to commend her for her professionalism, dedication and warm hospitality that the Japanese are renowned for. We will definitely stay at The Royal Park Hotel Kyoto Shijo when we visit Kyoto again.…
We stayed here for two nights in a three person bedroom. Room is just big enough but it is a two person room with an extra (real) bed. Nice room, great amenities. Nice staff at front desk. The best breakfast at their French restaurant with nice french bread and cheeses.
I was pleasantly surprised at how comfortable the rooms were. Our family of four stayed in a deluxe room meant for 3 adults (my 11 year old shared a bed with us and my 14 yo slept on the twin sofa). Location was everything! The subway entrance right in front of the hotel, and walking distance to shopping, dining and tourist attractions. We skipped the breakfast at the hotel, there is a Starbucks nextdoor and countless markets and convenience stores nearby. A lot cheaper and better tasting. Loved the pour-over coffee provided in the room. Why haven't American hotels figured that out!? They provide pajamas, slippers, toiletries and bath salts. Toilet room was separate from the bathroom, which was a great convenience. The concierge was very helpful in recommending some restaurants, but there were many other options at better prices available near the Gion district. Food was always good everywhere. I recommend at least 3-4 full days in Kyoto. It was such a spectacular place. The Autumn foliage didn't disappoint. Can't wait to be back. …
Stayed here 3 nights in October: hotel is easily accessible from the subway and has good connections to the main station and the touristy areas. Room are decorated nicely and clean and are in decent size for a center city hotel. Only niggle is that lower floor rooms get some noise from the main street as the sound insulation of the windows can be better. Hotel staff give efficient check-in and checkout but seemed a bit inexperienced and gave me a key for the wrong room...
We had one of the suites and the room was huge. The location was great but most of all the value for money for such a nice hotel is what really impressed us! Lovely staff too - would definitely go back!
Triangulating between the holy trinity of price, location and quality, this hotel scores a clear 10. Immaculately clean, large (for Japan) and well-appointed rooms, friendly staff. A brilliant find. Just by exit 6 of Shijo metro station so easy if travelling with luggage from Kyoto JR station.
A lovely hotel in central Kyoto. The room was a decent size and the hotel in general was fresh and well kept. It felt a lot more luxurious than the very reasonable price I paid. A short walk to the subway station. Would definitely recommend. Staff were very friendly and helpful.
The hotel is new and very well designed. It doesnt have extensive services, but that wasnt a concern for us. The staff were exceptionally friendly and diligent. One of our party after checking out discovered that they had left a rail card behind in their hotel room. The hotel staff went to great lengths to try to recover it, and even though we told them not to worry about it they kept searching and finally found it in rubbish bins that had been emptied from the rooms. Talk about going the extra mile!
I am just leaving this hotel and the city... The hotel position is perfect to reach every part of Kyoto .. The rooms are bigger then the Japanese standard, all amenities that you need are inside the room... so I really suggest this please.. more then this, the staff is extremely kind... so it is perfect !
