Southern Kyoto
Southern Kyoto has a reserved air. Though the Fushimi Inari Shrine is one of Kyoto's major tourist attractions, the surrounding nature, parks, gardens, temples, and shrines provide less-visited spaces for strolling and reflection. The Fushimi Inari Shrine itself is made up of 32,000 sub-shrines, and the mountain they are dotted across beckons hikers, picnickers, and lovers of the outdoors. Many of the mountain's off-set paths aren't frequented by tourists, and the mountain's serenity can be enjoyed at a leisurely pace. Southern Kyoto is the place to enjoy being outside, and to pay your respects to the ancient architecture and gods of the land that are celebrated here.

Just five minutes walk from the Hachijo exit at Kyoto Station. Very modern and spacious property tucked away in the middle of a neighborhood. Complete kitchenette, stove, refrigerator, microwave and safe. Small commercial coin laundry around the corner and a Sento across the street. 7-11 couple blocks away and Aeon Mall also around the corner. Every bed has a plug and two USB charging ports. Staff speaks English and were very helpful. We also enjoyed the complimentary Sake tasting.

We stayed here in Oct 2018 as a base to travel to Osaka/Nara/etc. One of the staff has the same name as my son & when he knows my son is having his birthday that day, he left a birthday gift (a small lego) & my son remembers this forever - thanks James! We live the comfy bed, the spacious bathroom with the tub & the Pola brand toiletries - can you tell us where we can get them ourselves? There's a coin laundry nearby & a shopping mall close by which has lots of food options. Would happily stay there again!

We stayed for 6 nights as part of a three week trip in japan. We chose the location due to its proximity to Kyoto station. It’s only a couple of blocks to the station which means it’s easy to get around Kyoto from here. The concept of the hotel was great with a host of products you could borrow and use during your stay. They had sake and tea tasting available in the lobby. James was fantastic, he told us a lot about sake and life in Kyoto. We would definitely stay here again and would recommend as a base to anyone staying for a few days in Kyoto.

I stayed here for 4 nights with my 2 kids (18 and 15).We arrived from Tokyo and when we arrived there was a crazy Typhoon happening. We loved the room. 3 beds Ryokan style on a small platform. The washroom was huge as was the shower. A Dyson blowdryer is a great touch, however, for us we didn't bother as the typhoon was keeping us very wet! We didn't spend much time at the hotel, so we didn't borrowed any of the supplies. There was a local laundromat around the corner where we were able to get some of our stuff washed. It is very small though. My daughter and I sat on 1 of the 3 stools and played cards while we waited. The night before we left the I went to the front desk and had our luggage forwarded to Osaka. In the meantime we went to Hiroshima. So when we arrived in Osaka 2 days later our luggage was at our hotel. This is a great and convenient service. The staff were amazing and we had no language complications at all. I would definitely stay at this hotel again. I wish there was one in Tokyo!
