Spent three nights here, wonderful staff from the moment we checked in. Great room, small by European standards but average for Japan. Had everything we needed. Nice breakfast included every morning. Superb location, near enough to everything but far enough away from noise. Beside a beautiful park if you want to get away from the city. Shopping also near by .
We stayed here 4 nights based on reviews and were not disappointed. Rooms were clean and nicely decorated. An excellent breakfast with coffee was served each morning. The only downside to the room was lack of English speaking channels and a funny smell from the restroom (door was kept closed) We found the front desk help exceptional in providing meal recommendations with good English- Kobe steak and ramen and their demeanor was always positive. 4.5 stars overall and a good value.
Stayed 4 nights in a twin room with my sister. Very roomy, wonderful staff, great breakfast & the location was excellent. Their little cafe for lunch is lovely too. Really enjoyed our time here exploring Kyoto. They even offer a guided tour some nights - very affordable & so interesting, we even say a real Geisha!! Kyoto is a wonderful place to visit & this hotel was fabulous.
Unfortunately we only had one night at this hotel. The location is perfect for Exploring Gion on foot with temples, shrines & eateries only a short walk away. Gion - Shijo metro station is only a 5 minute walk away and you are nearby many bus services should you wish to explore other parts of Kyoto. We had a room on the 5th floor which was quite and had opening windows and allowed airflow. Room size was average by Japanese standards, but there was just enough space to store both of our backpacks & large suitcases. Beds were comfortable and the room decor had subtle nods to Japanese culture. Breakfast was included in our room rate and you had the choice between two options. The food was great and we enjoyed people watching as we ate our breakfast outside. We’ve stayed in a couple of hotels in Kyoto and for us the things that make the Kyoto Inn Gion stand out are the little details. The skincare toiletries on offer at check in, the friendliness of staff throughout the hotel, the attentiveness of the restaurant staff, and the fact that the front desk noticed that it was my birthday. You feel like that this place is family run and you are made to feel welcome into their home. I just wish we could have stayed longer. I know the first place I’m booking the next time I’m in Kyoto...…
The minute you walk in the door, you are reassured that you chose the right hotel. The PHENOMENAL English speaking Staff greet you with a small gift and set the tone for a unique and comfortable stay. Located in the heart of the Geisha district, be sure to take the hotel led tour which will further educate you on the history, traditions, and preservation of these talented entertainers. The spotless room is comfortable, and offer useful amenities, a mini flash light and multi outlet circuit breaker for additional plug access. A delicious eastern or western breakfast in made to order and the service is perfect. LOVED this hotel. In close walking distance to the charms of Gion. OKINI
