Gion
Gion is Kyoto's famed Geisha District (called "Geiko" in Kyoto). Though Gion's many tea houses and entertainment restaurants are closed to foreigners, Geiko and Maiko in their traditional makeup with gilded hair in full kimono can be seen drifting the streets on their way to and from work, where they fan dance, sing, and play instruments for customers. Gion lights up at night, when the ancient-looking streets glow with lanterns along the river, where weeping willows catch the starlight and the air is warmed with conversation. Groups pass through to populate the restaurants and bars along the riverfront, but Gion still manages to be a mostly quiet district, due in large part to limited automotive traffic through many of its streets. Gion is a wonderful place to indulge in Kyoto's local and customary cuisines, and is best enjoyed after dark.

We loved staying here at the Kyoto Inn. It was a great location, close to a magnificent shrine and temple and also close to the main street for shopping and great restaurants. Also the old area of town is so interesting. Above all the staff were so helpful and went above and

This place is a gem of a hotel. It’s not crowded, the rooms are cozy and recently renovated, and it’s tucked away in a quieter corner of Gion. Yes, it’s a 10-ish min walk from the nearest train stations, but the service you get is second to none and I can’t recommend this place

Very nice hotel. The hotel staff make it a 5 star. Very friendly and welcoming. The hotel itself sits on a small side street - nice and quiet, but within easy walking distance of temples, restaurants and bars. I highly recommend.

We chose the Gion Inn as we wanted to experience the Geisha district. We had seen the good reviews and were not disappointed when we arrived. It is a small hotel, about a 20 minute walk from the nearest subway station. It is down a narrow road on which there are a number of bars

My experience just went from Excellent to Horrible. You need to know that this hotel has a controlling and not truthful woman at the breakfast hall. Be aware that if you want to be satisfied at breakfast, that won't be possible. Firstly, this woman stands right at the door,

Dear Maurício R-san, Thank you for staying with us and taking time to write the review. We truly appreciate your honest and detailed feedback about what you have experienced one morning at the café during breakfast time. We deeply are sorry to know about your dissatisfaction with the quantity of the breakfast and the oppressive manner you received from the waitress when you asked for the refill of the portion. To be honest, there was a lack of unification among the café serving staffs about serving extra portions or not, and your review has revealed this point. We have immediately discussed this issue with our management member to solve this problem. About the waitress saying that the dish was “sold out” and made you feel that she was lying, we hope you understand that it was because of the language difficulty. What she really meant was that the café could not supply extra refills because there was a limited quantity of the dish, only one portion for each guest. We also discussed about this point as well and informed the café to have preparation for extra supplies. We deeply apologize with the humiliation and the embarrassment you experienced and will try our best to prevent from these things to happen ever again. We are glad to hear that your first half of the stay was “Excellent” until you encountered the incident, so we do hope we could ask you to reconsider us for a future stay. We would absolutely love to welcome you back and it would be our pleasure to assist you and ensure you have a satisfying stay the next time. Please feel free to contact us directly (hotel@kyotoinngion.com) as it would be our pleasure to extend direct apologies and make amends. Dear future guests; Basically, our breakfast is provided one portion per each guests, however we now do provide extra refills for bread, rice balls and drinks. Sincerely Kyoto INN Gion
